I like the h3 off the wave - 2nd pic.
Not so keen on the tindy-grab dangle with kite high - first pic... if we want to dress like & impress wakeboarders, don't do weak-ass moves using the kite as a dangling sky-hook.

Hey Skyrider - I don't think Su would quite see it the same way as you.

But for your benefit here is Su doing what she does well:

Riding hard.

That handlepass shot rocks!

For a woman out kitesurfing in Christchurch in the middle of winter the only thing dissapointing is the fact that the camera likely missed some of her better moves like the ones on nznationals.pray4wind.com

Skyrider: Where's photo's of you showing how it should be done?

Hi Mark,

Yeah I'm loving it up here, warm and windy - what a great combo.

Justin and I have been riding in the harbour the last couple of days. Wind is looking good for a river mouth session today, and for the next couple of days if this E system does what it's meant too.

Cheers,

I'm not too "keen on" them either, but I believe a good kiter can do a variety of things... including the one footers and board offs that I was doing on this day.

I wear a helmet because accidents happen and I wear pants to increase the life of my wetsuit, if that makes me look like a wake boarder, so be it.

Kiting vs Wakeboarding - At least I can go kiting without having to (a) put fuel into the tank and (b) take two buddies with me.

Happy kiting

Su

Something else that you forgot to mention SU is that whilst kites are still pretty pricey... they are still cheaper than a boat.

Decay it ain't very windy here at the mo, only bout 15 knots and a 12m hydro is my biggest kite currently so I'm suddenly not liking 15 knots after being mint as when using my 20 which has blown up. I also heard that the long term forecast is that the usual crankin WSW winds that occur during spring aren't gonna happen this time round. Glad you enjoying it up north.

Looks like I should start my own fan club.

I could post my latest pics.... as has been done by the guy at the start of the thread, but I'm not that vain & I'm just an average rider - more critical of myself than I am of others.

Good on Ya Su, I think you're a ripper - great that you're so passionate about kiting! I was just giving a bit of constructive critisism, didn't mean it to be offensive.

Sure, it's all fun, if it wasn't we wouldn't do it. I just think there is an element of mimicry in this sport that doesn't do justice to the sports that it has borrowed from, e.g. Doing a railey with kite pulling high instead of the low down pull from the wakeboard boat. Board offs/one footers - a skaters move with NO assistance from kites or boards with handles & footstraps.

I'm not saying I am The Freestyle MO FO, far from it! What few photos I have are lame-O.
But I know where I want kiting to go & that is to be respected by the other sports - surfing, wakeboarding, snowboarding & skating. Not a mixed up, poor imitation of all of them!

And hey sidecar! The blue oyster? If thats your local, just tell me where it is and I'll meet you there... Don't forget to wear lots of protection for your suit so you can increase it's life, & if that makes you look like a wakeboarder - so be Tits.

My, what a hefty dose of self pimpage... I do believe we have a challenger for the 'Trumpet' nickname..

I wish people would stop with the excuse of wearing pants to protect their wetsuit, we all know it's bollocks. Who has ever seen a wetsuit damaged by a beach dragging that thin nylon pants would have stopped.
Just be honest and admit it's a look thing. There's no shame in not enjoying the look of a shiny black, ass hugging wetsuit.
Don't really want to wade into this whole style debate, cause who really cares at the end of the day. As long as everyones having some fun then it's all super. Having said that though, Skyrider I agree with you. It'd be a shame for kiting to end up the poor cousin of all other board sports, especially when it has so much potential to be the most radical and ass whooping. I guess thats the thing with a young sport still finding its way in the big wide world though...
