Back in Jan my 2004 15m SS Fuel was stolen from our house in Christchurch.

www.kiteforum.co.nz/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=872

Last week some idiot tried to sell it on Trademe, you can check out his attempts here:-

www.trademe.co.nz/Sports/Watersports/Kit...auction-27632021.htm

Thanks to the work of the Papanui police and the fact the kites serial number was recorded the kite has now been recovered. The police are seeing what they can do about charging the guy, but at least he didnt get to profit from stolen goods.

Thanks to all the crew who noticed the kite for sale and called me its great to know everyone is looking out for these dodgy deals.

And guys - record your kites serial numbers! Do it today, it could save your kite in the future.

Cheers,

Dave Kay

Excellent! It was rather suspicious of him trying to sell a nearly brand new kite he hasn't used lacking bar+lines. What made it even easier to track him down was that he had it right alongside auctions of his ute and truck clearly showing numberplates etc. Then again theft never required a high IQ...

Though what's sad is that with the current state of policing he's got a better chance of getting away with it than someone doing 110kph down the motorway.

Earl had his place broken into and the following takin, Brand new Torch 8m x3, Raven 9m x1 kite only ( only 9m in country ) Raven 10m Kite only x1 , Raven 12m x4 complete with bar and lines. Thorn board 05 model, 132cm x1 , Haze 135cm x 3, Naish surfboard 6'9 x1. Cheers

Did you let Trade Me know what this bottom feeder is doing?
Might get his ass banned if we're lucky
Never argue with an idiot. They drag you down to their level, then beat you with experience.

That's good news!

But does it mean now that you will have to give some money back (or the kite) to your insurance company?

Obviously theft doesn't always have the highest IQ, who would sell a kite at this time of the year???

Cheers

It happened again!!!

Su and I walked into a Christchurch Cash Converters yesterday only to spot her first kiteboard sitting on a rack on the wall.

This board was stolen out of her car back in Feb 2003! As you'd expect we were surpised to see it up for sale this far down the track. The staff in the store were less than happy when we told them the situation and sent us off the police station to find the orginal police report for it.

For now it's in the hands on the Ch-ch police, but since CC requires all sellers to provide ID we may find out a little more about where it has been for the last few years!

Cheers,

DK
