TOPIC: Problems at Muriwai

Problems at Muriwai 7 years, 1 month ago #4908

Greetings all

As promised I will inform you of issues as they arise. Today I have a series of concerns from parties at Muriwai. The concerns relate to Kite boards entering into the flagged swim area and also the immediatte surrounds where people are in the water.

The law does not exclude you from using these areas, all you need to do is stay below 5 knots when within 200m of the shore and 50m of a swimmer.. blah blah.

What I would suggets is moving further up the beach or up to the four wheel drive access.

It has been suggested we place a marker on the beach to show a place where kites should not come south of. This may be possible to do with a sign explaining what the boarders are doing and how it all works (or doesn't in some cases!!). This would need to be done with the local councils permission.

Please be aware a problem is begining to emerge here and help it go away. As always any comments are welcome

regards

Jim Dilley

Hi Jim..

Thanks for your efforts on helping us resolve this problem.

Do you get any descriptions of the culprits and or type and colour of kite??
If we know who they are we can try "Kangaroo Court" resolve it THE KITE SURFER WAY..

Digital pictures can also help..
If some one phones in ask them to take a PXT picture of the kite surfer..
If they dont have a PXT phone a description will do.
IE Big nose.. we know is Shane M..
Stoner with blood shot eyes.. we know its Sam or Hippy
G under wetsuit we know its Gavin B
Hair highlights we know is DVNT him self.
Over Powered and 20KM out to sea we know its Kent
And so on..

Laters
Craig
