Hi guys

Its Richard here. Just got back from my first session with a brand new black 14m RAVEN!!!!! What can I say!!! Absolutely awesome kite. Extemely smooth and predictable, lots of lift and hang time, and very light on the bar.

Its a wonderful kite and I cant wait form my next session. It opens up a whole new world of moves and big air.

-Richard

I got an 18 last week and have had 3 sessions on it and really like it; very stable and big wind range. Here's what a mate said:

The Raven is rather like the Naish Torch, quite soft power, made the
wind at Pine harbour feel very smooth. Quite low aspect kites (look
just like the Torch when flying), and a lot of 'play' in the
steering, so it is forgiving in jumps and tricks, Phil has a 50cm
bar on his, much it turns quite slowly, but for learning its a
brillant kite!
Pop is not what I was expecting, it just didn't turn quick enough
for big jumps. This kite gave pretty normal hangtime, and was very
controllable in transitions, and has a large power band, it's not
spikey like the X2, or super grunty like the slingshots. It just
seems to pull you along, and riding speed is fairly fast to get
power out of it. Bar pressure is quite light. THe v line stops the
tips from flaring out, and this could be a big reason for the steady
pull, if the kite doesn't open up, the projected area of the kite
does not change, so the power remains consistent.

This kite feels like it has heaps of range, it handled the gusty PH
conditions like a champ, even on the powered front line attachment.
I suppose it would have almost the top end of a 18m X2 (20 knots for
75kg), just not quite as fast riding speed. Low end feels ok, it can
be oversheeted and it doesn't care too much, maybe 10 knots?
Nice kite...

Now have a 55cm (22") bar and that helps quite a bit.

Cheers

I just got a 12m Raven. Tried it on the fifth line set up. The kite flies very smooth and light on the bar. Then i tried it on my old four line bar. Seems to work very well on four lines. Was out at muriwai in 15knots yesterday and had a ball.Great for wave riding.Looking foward to trying it out in some serious wind.

Tried the Raven out in stronger wind yesterday at Orewa. First on four lines. The kite flew much better when I switched back to the 5 line setup. So in light wind the kite flies very well on four, but when the wind picks up to around 20knots best to stick to the 5 line setup. Very stoked with the new kite.

Richard finds the Raven 14 as powerful as the old 16 he had before so they can probably tow a VW.

harbour boosting, sideways buggying, harwood speed gps'ing, sometime kiteskiing, wave/washing machine kiting, gear breaking, driving about chasing the wind....
