If some of you were wondering where Bob, Hugh and Cookie from Underground were, we're about half way around the world on a kiting trip, and have ticked off a few locations on our international kiting list. After falling into Maui mode for 6 months, which included a fantastic trip to Lanai and Shipwreck Beach, we attacked South America. Chile offered some very cold water, but some beautifully long left handers at Pichelimu. Some good sessions were had in Brazil at Cabo Frio and Buzios, only 1hr north of Rio. Unfortunately Turkey was too cold (and we too sore from carrying 3 kites and 2 boards each) for any sessions, but we had some good ones in Hurghada, Egypt with the local Russian crew. South Africa is now beckoning with the tail end of the season (first time for Bob back on home turf) and then back to NZ by May, just in time for the snow season.

As for other kiwis, we saw Mike Holland briefly on Maui back in August/September and Mike Raper when he came over for business. Bob is still going to decide whether he wants to come back to NZ, but we might all keep traveling anyway. Would have loved to be at the nationals, but will all be in South Africa at the time.
