Press release Sunday 28th of November- main event freestyle of the Superkite PKRA final- Ceara- Fortaleza Brazil

Weather and wind conditions
Wind and sunshine from early in the morning, (Brazil is probably the only place where you can get sun burned at 7 in the morning) the perfect morning to finish the finals of the freestyle and start with the second disipline which will be wave riding for this event!

The finals of the freestyle
Yesterday we got to the final when the wind started to get funky and light so the race team decided to keep the finals for this morning. At 8h30 Ruben Lenten and Aaron Hadlow were sailing up and down checking out the flag, ready to start their (first) heat. Both riders went to the end with all sort of handle passes, kiteloops, down loops and so on, both riders, did flat 3s, slim chances, Mobes, KGBs and kiteloops. Aaron went for a downloop slim chance but did not land perfect and Ruben did a nice slim to blind. That was more or less enough to make Ruben win for the final. That meant that another final had to be run so the winner could be decided. The wind was pretty light and on-shore, the boys were having trouble staying upwind but there was enough wind to keep competing. Aaron started with a powered front Mobe but did not land; Ruben took the chance in the mean time to take some extra points on his sheets and went for a Mobe 5. Both riders rode insanely good; Ruben went for downloops, a Pete Rose a grabbed slim chance, toeside Mobe, a horizontal kiteloop and a bunch of grabs. In the mean time Aaron went for a KGB, a couple of Mobes, a front Mobe, a kiteloop and a downloop Mobe with a BC (Butt Check). The end result was very close, both riders rode very well and with a lot of power, it was a 3-2 decision for Ruben Lenten!
Congratulations Ruben! Congratulations Aaron with a second place but with the title of WORLD CHAMPION!

1. Ruben Lenten (NED)
2. Aaron Hadlow (UK)`
3. Gianni Aragno (ESP)
4. Cesar Portas (ESP)
5. Etienne Lhote (FRA) and Jojo Carneiro (BRA)

Not only the men had to run twice for the final but also the women. Yesterday afternoon the first final of the women got completed with Cindy Mosey winning from Kristin. Today the second final started right between the 2 finals of the men.
Both girls started good with Cindy going for a 720 kiteloop (BC), an Indy grab, a sliding handle pass, an aerial Mobe, a railey with a downloop, s-bend, a 360 jump to blind and some high jumps. In the mean time Kristin went for a railey, an aerial handle pass but did not land good, a kiteloop but a minute or 2 before the end her kite went in the water and was taken by some waves which made it very hard for Kristin to relaunch her kite.
The winning place went to Cindy Mosey with a 5-0 decision, congratulations Cindy on your winning place and another WORLD CHAMPION title. Congratulations Kristin you rode very well!

1. Cindy Mosey (NZ)
2. Kristin Boese (GER)
3. Angela Peral (ESP)
4. Ania Grzelinska (POL)
5. Anna Sparre (SWE) and Bruna Kajiya (BRA)

WORLD CHAMPIONS
Aaron Hadlow and Cindy Mosey!

The second disipline for this event was wave riding:
30 men and
The judges will score as following:
-The best 3 waves
-The closer to the curl the higher the points
-The air off the lip will score higher on strapless boards
-Aerial moves only count if landed in front of the wave
-Best 2 riders out of 4 will advance
-3 minutes transition time, 5 minutes competing time.
-Judges will score from 1 to 10 for each wave ride.

The waves were small by the start and the wind was rather light but the waves got bigger with high tide and there were some nice and clean waves now and then!

In the semi finals we had Mark Shinn (UK), Abel Lago (ESP), Marc Ramseier (SUI) and Mallory De La Villemarque (ESP).
The waves were getting better and cleaner, the wind was still rather light though, Mark Shinn started the wave competition on a board with straps but soon switched to one without straps. Abel, Mark and Marc Ramseier were all on wave riding boards; Mallory was on his twin tip!
Abel and Mark advanced to the finals, a men on men heat and Marc Ramseier and Mallory competed for third and fourth place in the losers final. Both Mark and Abel rode nice waves, Abel did some nice aerials, so did Mark, Mark was on a strapless board and made a perfect varial back into the wave which scored good points!

1. Mark Shinn (UK)
2. Abel Lago (ESP)
3. Marc Ramseier (SUI)
4. Mallory De La Villemarque (ESP)

For the women it was Ania Grzelinska (POL), Kristin Boese (GER), Angela Peral (ESP) and Kirsty Jones in the semi finals. Kristin Boese and Kirsty Jones went on to the final and Ania Grzelinska and Angela competed for third and fourth place. Angela did really well she took really nice waves. Kirsty Jones is for sure the most experienced of all the girls; she competed in a lot of surf events and won a lot too. It wasnt surprising that she took first place for the girls!

1. Kirsty Jones (UK)
2. Kristin Boese (GER)
3. Angela Peral (ESP)
4. Ania Grzelinska (POL)
