Hi everyone!
I am Francois, a French guy from South Britany and just arrived in Auckland for 10 months.
I am of course kitesurfing but so far I do not know a lot of people here yet,. I plan to invest in a car but for now I have only my legs. So, in case sometimes, some of you are interested to share one to go to the spot It could be cool!
I have tried this we Chevalier in Auckland and as there were not many kiters, I guess there were maybe better places to go (with less oysters for the foot)
Otherwise , I have been told about Taranaki windsurfing event this week-end. Are there someone going there?
Thanks and see you on the water!
Francois

Hi Francois

Were about in Auckland are you living?

I know how hard it is to find your way around Auckland, as I have only been here for 1.5 years. The wind is quite complicated as it comes from all directions and you also need to know what the tide is doing.

We go kiting most days and I am sure we can take you along.
A stupid man's report of what a clever man says is never accurate because he unconsciously translates what he hears into something he can understand.

What a fast and good reply!!
I live on Dominion road and work as a research student in Tamaki, which makes my timetable very flexible...
so anywhere, anywhen let's go for ripping hard!
As you said, if we do not know really the area it can be tough to find the best spot, so many!
Looking forward to meeting you guys and doing some double kite loops handle pass together
cheers
Francois

Hi Francois,

Welcome to NZ! I hope you have many great days kiting as there are so many amazing beaches to kite at- especially north of Auckland. Shoal Bay (north side of the bridge) is good for somewhere local. I never kite at Pt Chev as it can be quite gusty.

Do you have a mobile number that people can call you on?

There was due to be a crowd of guys going to Taranaki this weekend, however Doug, a very good friend of many & awesome kiter, was organising the weekend for friends but sadly died last weekend.

It is definately worth investing in wheels!!! You will kite so much more & get to travel to good beaches. Check out the Trade and Exchange paper, I think comes out Wednesday night and saturday's for 2nd hand cars. you can buy it at most petrol stations and some 24hr shops. Honda civics are cheap and reliable cars, although not very crash safe! Take care on NZ roads! There are many crazy drivers out there and a few blind corners on single lane A- roads.

Check out www.kiteworks.co.nz and www.buoyweather.com for weather forecasts/info.

HI Alex,
I feel so bad to send my message without even reading the past one concerning your friend. I would not have send it like that otherwise!
I am really sorry about this tragedy and present all my support to his family and friends.
I am instructor and spend my time to speak about safety safety ... and when this kind of thing happens that reminds you that it can always be , whatever the evolution of the sport and gear, a fu... dangerous game.
And my english is too poor to express my feelings...
So far, I just have the mail to contact and be contacted but the phone s coming soon,
see you soon and thanks for the tips
