one session in a month

left work early today, and got 6-10 knots and 5 degrees, didn't bother, not worth the numb toes....

aaaaaaaaaaaagh
harbour boosting, sideways buggying, harwood speed gps'ing, sometime kiteskiing, wave/washing machine kiting, gear breaking, driving about chasing the wind....

Three of us got out for a light session on the Poo-pond last night.

My first session this month.

Looking better today - NE is blowing at Brighton already, I hope to get a wave session in before lunch.

Have you tried those 4" fins on any of your boards yet Craig?

Just got in from a two hour session at South Brighton.

Wind was around 15 knots - just powered on a 13.5m and new cutlass 142 prototype (three fin directional). Swell is pretty small, about waist high - should build thru the day.

Came off the water as a passing shower dropped the wind to zero in about 30 seconds.

Looking out the window now in the last 30 min its built back to over 20 knots - looks like I'll be getting back into a wet wetsuit for the afternoon session.

Super stoked with the new board - the outline has a bit more tuck in the hips than the last one - with same fin/rocker/stance. Center fin more solid in the water than ever, with a much more progessive turn radius. Still with plenty of width and a deep single concave it is pure pleasure in waves - surfing down the line with linked top/bottom turns and the odd driving cutback - all with the power in the kite shut off...

With that wind over 20k out there now I should be sweet on just an 8m.

Well whatever floats your boat. Does Sue know about this?

Looks like the Decay Kiss of Death (the DKD?) has stuck once again, the trees are stuningly flacid for a forecast of 45knots.

3.5 hour session at Takas on 6.8 Cabrina.. hmmmm..
Almost burst my ear drip, Came out for 2 min to wash the blood of my face After slamming my face into my board. Then decided it was a day when I noticed The skin from my hands still on my bar.

Stick me in a dark smelly hole and I will continue smiling for a week.

Role on Sat..

Jez - talk about my neigbours getting on my case!

I did go out again about 4pm - very lit on my 8m kite, full tide and wind over 30 knots by then had the sea a huge mess of white water. The swell was breaking way out past the pier and the reforms were over head high and closing out on the inside! Sh!t don't even know why I rigged up really, was like kiting in a washing machine.

The water isn't as cold as these two think either - tho putting on a wet 5mm wetsuit is exactly fun.

Was back on the water again at 10am this morning in a N tending NW wind. Smooth, clean head high waves, cross to cross offshore wind and only Alex, Nico and I about. Alex and I ended up doing the downwinder to Southshore bashing lips the whole way. Cheers for the lift back Nico.

This afternoon Nico and Su did the same run - nothing like a 5km downwinder in cross-shore and good waves.

This has been the most Ch-ch riding in June I've ever done, and with all but a handful of local riders given up until the spring its been VERY un-crowded to boot.

So you wouldn't want to hear that we had a repeat of yesterdays conditions today and that a group of us got a driver sorted and did a whole bunch of laps of South-brighton in cross-shore/head high blah blah blah blah blah blah........

Or that some of us didn't need a driver (other than for one little run) and stayed *upwind*. Yes used kite and board to actually make ground up the beach. This is not downhill mountain biking people.

Re: kiter killed 7 years, 11 months ago #2860

I know the feeling Doofus. It's true, as like out of the blue, six days in a row of kiteable wind, with warm lofty northerlys mixed in. Alas, I saw but did not sail, as I was nurturing our next two generation Xs- with digging, & sandcastles, and stick throwing for ridedog. Sarah enjoyed her long weekend in Melbourne (trade off for Fiji), man I've got it easy. Tim 8)
