Im heading to nz for this years rugby season to play for a local team. I was wondering if there were any kiters based in north otago?

I am looking for info on spots, local shops and possibly a mate to ride with in between training sessions...

Oamaru is my home town. The kiting can be rather good from Kakanui south over summer, but as far as I'm aware there aren't any local kiters. Predominant wind is a NE sea breeze, anything from the south is kiteable too. There are no options that I am aware of for a big Norwester. I was there over Xmas and the sea breeze is usually 15-20 knots but it didn't seem to be doing it, I think there was too much cloud inland, stupid La Nina.
Winter isn't that windy apart from passing southerlies and they are stormy and cold.

But if you are in North Otago for the winter, try snow-kiting at the Snow Farm or Cardrona, great fun!

how far away is snow kiting form North Otago?

Sounds like the kiting will be frontal... kite when its windy.. sounds just like the uk
