Hey there,

I had an awesome session today at Kohi. However while packing I had two separate people coming to me to complain about some kitesurfers not respecting the swimmer only zone. Sure enough a little while later I saw a fuckwit landing a big jump less than 10m from a group of swimmers.

Please don't get us kicked out of this great spot. Respect the swimming zone (between the two white buoys) and stay far away from swimmers even if they are outside of that zone.

And if you see people not respecting it, let them know otherwise we might all be banned from there.

Cheers

Hadn't seen this post before, but good idea making it Quentin. Let's not let disrespectful kitesurfers ruin it for the rest of us!

I'd also add a similar request for more considerate kite surfing at Orewa Beach. There were a couple of kite surfers going at fiarly high speeds among swimmers close to the shore line.

Yes, the swimmers/paddlers were not swimming between the flags, but it would have taken very little for a significant collision to have taken place.

There was plenty of space further down the beach towards the estuary.

Next time I'll take photos and shame you!

Totally agree about kiters and swimmers at Orewa. I kite overseas a lot and in many places, kiteboarding is banned due to inconsiderate kiters spoiling it for the rest of us. It's only a matter of time here.
We need to grow some balls and have these inconsiderate guys on, before they spoil it here too. Its easy to just look the other way but.....
