Hey there, I'm looking at getting a super light wind beginner type wave board I am an interrmediate twin tip rider but want to start enjoying wave style riding as well. Also I need something to help me get up on those light wind days (last summer) I am thinking a North Freestyle Fish, a Whip or a Wam or the Airush Chop Top. I am 5.11 and 90kg. The beach here can be choppy, mushy etc (Mount Maunganui / Papamoa)
Any advice/help would be welcome

Is anyone looking at selling one of these boards (Needs to be in great condition) No dings or chips etc.

Cheers

Andy

Don't forget a Decay Scimitar if you can get your hands on one. Trucks upwind, oodles of bottom end and handles power and speed well too.

Hi Andy,

I had a North Freestyle Fish (well, it's still mine but it is oversea), and I enjoyed it very much. It is very easy go strapless, but I think it's not for big waves.

bye,
Roberto

Hi Andy,
Of those boards I would pick the WAM, the big one in your case. The others have less rocker and might get going a little bit quicker but every so often we do get a ground swell and good side shore wind and then you'll want something that carves a bit better. It flies upwind in quad fin mode, it can almost compete with the course racers, esdpecially when they are falling off all of the time

Thanks Simon. Is the Wam also going to be good for getting me up on those light wind days as well ?

Hey there all. I have just been reading that the FSH (Freestyle Fish) is a better board for getting up and planing in light winds. Would you agree ?
I'm thinking of lightwind summer days down at the beach when a wave board could get me up and going before my twin tip ?

It's all about rocker; the Fish, Choptop & Whip have less so will plane slightly faster but will surf not quite as well in real waves. Any one board is a compromise.
For me the WAM is good enough, but I only weigh 65 kg. Try and arrange a demo if possible to see what works for you.
