Hey All

Something that crossed my mind whilst watching the wind on Sunday. We sometimes kite in areas that get crowded over summer (Tay Street in the Mount and Lyall Bay in Wellington). What if we injure someone or damage property with our “kiting activities”? Will ACC cover an individual’s medical treatment or are we liable for the full bill, will an insurance company pay for damage done to property? I realise that these accidents shouldn’t happen, and that people should kite within there limits but this isn’t a perfect word and it does happen.

except for rare occasions i've found that out my way its either good for kiting or good for "other stuff", never both. That sea breeze is still too cold imo for sun bathing or swimming and if it is warm enuf its usually 5-10 knots so not worthy of kiting in. out this way we quickly stopped grovelling amoungst swimmers in 10 knots... allmost got kiting banned here at EB cos of that.... mind you we do have Bramley nearby which is often a crankin 15 knots with 30 degree waist deep water at high tide with no swimmers

But i think one of the real plusses of being in NZ is that we are NOT liable for damages becasue ACC means that the govt covers injuries which means no lawsuits etc.... read horror stories about having to join a club and get insurance if you kite in OZ... i hope thats not true as i'm heading over there soon
