Oh here we go again, does anyone know where the information for this article came from?

I think many of us know exactly where this originated.

BTW... Bream Bay Coastal Care Trust or just one individual? Or is the Bream Bay Coastal Care Trust and that individual the same entity? At least she is not a self proclaimed representative of DOC anymore.

When margaret brought down scissors to cut kiters lines it should have been nipped in the bud and suitable charges laid. If she ever harrasses me again I am going to make a formal complaint and that goes for her foul mouthed sidekick too.

There is little enough for youth to do for free as it is in NZ ,without some retired do-gooder with all the time in the world leading a full time campaign against them. This spot is THE spot kiters want to ride because it is flat and world class, so young riders can have ambition of maybe competing on a world level if they want to.

The suicide rate amongst youth is already higher than the road toll in NZ and for this reason alone I loath her campaign that has absolutely no substance and picks on just one of many recreational groups of users of this area.

THIS is the lastest news though, why just kitesurfers ? why not jet skis ? boats etc ?

its quite a strange angle if you ask me , its almost a war of wills instead of a constructive discussion now, like the bird dudes have forgotten kites dont make noise and dont actually bother the birds. But one point i would make is STAY OF THE BLOODY DUNES . i think the kite surfers have made good rules so far and should get them agreed by DOC as it seems DOC is supporting the fact that kites are not an issure, its people that can be the issue.

I'm pretty sure Margeret is the owner of the Advocate newspaper, so don't believe a word that crazy old fool says or her paper. I agree totally with Ian, shame the local police did not want the work load.

As for a ban that is not true from what I hear, there is still more to go on this saga and DOC have a report saying that kiters are no nuisance last year to the birds in question.

The old bag is only a few years away from the back pages of the newspaper herself, she should stick to enjoying her retirement.

if we were trashing dunes and ignoring cordoned off areas etc then fair game, as it is, i reckon we've done our best to come to a compromise and respect the environment. The fact we are on kites and not jet skis should be evidence enough of that. Its not just about the birds any more, just some old tart with a chip on her shoulder and nothing better to waste her time with.
