Hi all kiters.

Will stay in Tauranga (Mount) for six weeks in October-november with wife & kidz.
Is there any spots nearby and what kind of winds would you have at that time? Tried Windgurus history but couldn't really find any wind there...

Will there normally be 16kn+ days during my stay. If so, I will definately bring my quiver.

Please, Locals, give me some info to work with.

but i don't believe that. add 10 knots to it for the afternoon sea breaze. oct nov is some of the windiest months of the yearin nz. you will find wind. bring your stuff!!!

if your prepaired to drive 3-4 hours i'd suggest you could pretty much find wind on any day.

Only just seen this post - are you here yet?
If the wind is Westerly people tend to head to Ferguson Park in Matua for flat (choppy and gusty!!) water. Matua is a suburb of Tauranga. If it's NW through N to SE people tend to go out on the coast at Tay St (on the Mount). Head down the beach road from the Mount and it's about 3km down on the left - a little cafe opposite called Tay St cafe.
When are you here? Tend to get quite a bit of wind at this time of year so you should be in luck.

I'll fly in next week from Sydney. Turns out though there wasn't room for my board on the flight (kids crave a lot of baggage...) so I need to find a board to use. Know anyone with a spare small twintip?

My old board is a 125 Litewave from about the 05 era. Footpads are getting a bit squashed so landings feel a bit hard but you'd be welcome to borrow that.

I imagine that Assault (the local shop) would hire you one if you want something a bit better.
