hi derek, can't make the august trip to fiji, but i'm there in mid may @ plantation. can you suggest the spots to kite on the island????????????
i've had a holiday there 2 yrs ago so i know some location on the island, but wasn't kiteboarding then. you're knowledge would be a great help.

p.media are not boycotting - they're banned. their non-kiting director steve dickinson is openly hostile to this site, it's users and me personally. we're certainly better off without his aggro and thuggish behaviour.

derek has been to fiji once and may be able to help you.

i've been to plantation island and a bunch of other great kiting spots north of there and am also going back in july.

you fly into nadi and sort yourself out for a night then catch a one hour boat from near the sheraton hotel to 'plantation island'.

there's plenty of accom options on the island and good kiting when the trades blow. at low tide, there's a big ole sandbar with some nice flat water, and namotu and some other sick reef breaks are a short boat ride away.

you'll always need your biggest gear in fiji and will probably wish it was bigger still. occasionally it does blow up to 25 knots, and very occasionally more than that. most days it's grovelling and doing downwinders from the sandbar to the bottom of the bay in 10 knots - but still a hell of a lot more fun than nz's winter.

Brother Shaan you must rise above these bannings- you are the self appointed 2nd best kiteboard in Auckland with huge west coast balls (maybe this contributes to the lowrider nature of the lowrider seat) actually brother do tell us all how you became the 2nd best kiter in Auckland me and the camels await the story..

steve dickinson removed himself from this site, and tried to encourage others to do so. i have never officially met the guy (though we played pool not 10 feet away from each other the other night), but in my dealings with him, i have noticed plenty of thuggish behaviour and lately, aggro and abusive behaviour.

these things are not tolerable on this site, from anyone including you two gentlemen. in a year of operation, i have banned just two seriously problematic individuals, less than .05% of our users. this is my privilege and i have used it very sparingly. if you have a problem with my decisions, please discuss them rationally or go somewhere else.

in the interests of free speech i will leave your last remarks up, but i warn you, unless you have reasonable and relevant things to say about kiting, you will no longer be welcome.

as regards '2nd best kiter in Auckland' - i could tell you all about my trip if i had time. briefly - as any moron can see, the comments refered to the last available national results, when a bunch of jafas competed against the best riders in the country and were placed according to their results.

people who know about these things, don't have a problem with this it seems.

p.s. who do you rank as the #2 rider in auckland? yourself? we know you're the #1 rider at i'mapotato rd.
