Ok I have another question for the forum. I am looking at alternatives
to the standard pumps that come with kites. My requirements are that
it needs to be small, light reliable and suitable for packing on multi-
day trips. I will only have a 25l backpack to fit food etc so not much space. Standard pumps are to bulky and unreliable to be taken on a long distance trip.

Came across this and its not suitable but a nice idea.

In the beginning all LEI's came with a little balloon pump, only slightly larger than the pumps you use with soccerballs or netballs.

Required a deft wrist action and was funny watching people use them. We quickly started looking for alternatives and there are some smaller pumps around. Just have a squiz throught he camping sections of Bunnings, Warehouse, R&RSports etc. There used to be a slightly smaller version, looks upside down to what we use with a ~2.5L body. I think Warehouse sells a red one like it with the blow-up pools and camp beds. Not the greatest little pump either but it is smaller.

I still have a section of 4" thin wall stainless tube sitting in the workshop waiting to be made into a good quality, maintainable long stroke kitepump. One day...

That's the one... just watch for sand ingress as the air intake is in the bottom and the sand chews up the seal very quickly.
