I am doing a 6 week trip at the end of the year with wife and baby and am going to based near these two spots / regions. Can anyone tell me if there good places to kite in these areas - and really great spots etc. (Bearing in mind i am happy going in with wetsuit gimp hat in pishing rain off a rocky beach over here ...)

Just booking accomodation so any advice appreciated.

I've been travelling all around teh country and coromendel and malborough are beautiful but maybe the less adapted to kitesurfing.
Coromendel : nice beaches but many people not much wind, malborough not many beaches.

I did check out the river mouth at blenhim when on holiday and it does hve potential in the right winds, it forms a point at the bar so anything from NW to SW would be OK, just watch out for the 11KV line going across the bar
Never argue with an idiot. They drag you down to their level, then beat you with experience.

I've had some good sessions on the Coromandel. There is no consistent wind pattern but you have the choice of East or West Coasts. I'd say you have a better chance of scoring good wind in one of the bays on the West Coast. Less people around as well. Good spots for me are Tapu, Port Jackson (right at the top) and Hot Water Beach (East Coast) but there are hundreds of possibilities - all you need is wind.
