Anyone out there keen on an easter trip somewhere. I have yet to Sail Taranaki or maybee another Trip up the Far North.Would be keen to get a bit of a crew together.Maybee organise a free ride.

i'm heading back to the barrier - tiger for punishment i know - but where else can you drive 10 people in one $35 dollar a day car back from the pub, down windy gravel roads in the middle of a horizontal rainstorm with no clutch and only one headlight working?

Kent, with forecast being the most important factor for most spots, how about decide a day or so before - with options of far north, rags+naki, whakatane/tauranga?(in rare event of prevailing Es) , barrier?(in rare event of prevailing Es and not being stitched up by local vehicle renters) or even south head - race up for outgoing tide - paradise on your non accessible doorstep. Far North East by boat charter? Now that would be cool...

Yeah, i remeber the ride home from the pub.Stuck in the boot with the lid up in the pouring rain, getting soaked and sniffing diesel fumes.I also remeber our Toyota Landcruiser rental crapping out and getting a mini moke instead (a convertible go cart) with no fuel in the tank.There was also a poker game involving alot of liquior that Shaan cheated very poorly at. We will probably stay at Ohope Beach, But the is a great camp at Ohiwa itself.

i live in ohope and have just started kitesurfing , i've never seen any guys out kitesurfing . Do you surf the bar of the harbour ??? Why not just the beach ???

The bar of the harbour rocks, but not for learners. There is too much current and when things go wrong they go wrong fast.
The beach is as good as it gets for learning so stick with that for a while.
