What are the wind and sea conditions generally like in winter?

at this time of year it very hard to tell what wind direction you are really going to get, the waves are almost always there 95% of the time at least a 1m swell. sw wind is the ticket, on a good day with a high level of skills you would have a ball , tides are good 1 hour after high tide , low tide can have problems as there are sand bars that get exposed (with a 4m wave behind !) best you check it out in a 15 knot sw wind , you have the best shot at it , just not the day after a big storm , if you have a 4x4 take it and drive onto the beach and park well out of the way in the soft sand by the fence (right turn at fire station road , gravel begins 200m along it)

16 to start with, then it picked up for 12's...

Looks good again today for 12's or 9's...

i went to pt dread it sucked no wind ended up going to raglan but missed the tide so sat and had lunch at bridal viel falls before coming back :'( i went out on sat but the wid was competly off shore and dodgy as hell so went to pt dread (the chev) and well yeah lets just say my board rail is an inch shorter then it was before it sucked lol
