While most of Aucklands 'Top kiters' were sliding round in the poo pond in CHCH the rest of us scored an epic day of sun and wind at Mangawhai Heads. Some of the lads were out riding in the esturary as early as 7:30am! The morning kicked off with 15-18 knots from the south east. The boys were on 9 and 12's and lacing up the flat water in behind the awe inspiring white sand dunes. Chris was sporting a helmet cam so looking foward to checking the footage from that. Most people seshed it up for at least 3 hours inc myself before commin in to refuel on food and drinks before heading out for another 2 hours when the tide came in. The wind did drop late afternoon but most scored some great kiting. Dean and Adam came up trumps with the Hungi and a bin filled with ice cold corona What an awesome day and a great turn out. Will try and upload some video and pics shortly. So thanks again for everyone who made the effort to turn up and all those who helped out to make it such a worthy day. Cheers to the wind gods for turning it on. Lets hope for a bigger and better event next year.......
