The 2008/2009 Slingshot Raglan Freeride is ON

The Freeride is a celebration of life and kiting in memory of good friend and fellow kiter Doug Wisor who passed on doing what we all love just over four years ago.
It is a social gathering of a wide cross section of people brought together by this crazy sport. It's a chance to catch up with old friends and make new ones. It's an opportunity to kite one of the best kiteboard locations in NZ and the world in relative safety.
It's not a competition although there maybe a couple of competitive twist thrown in.
The latest and greatest Slingshot kites will be available for demo from Friday.

im going very keen just cleared it with my boss as its my birthday on the 29 th is there an entery fee

Not long to go now, weekend after this one (27 28 29th)

Tides for the weekend are approximately high Friday 11am, Saturday 12, and Sunday 12.40.

We will be at the harbor mouth from around midday Friday and kiting thru to low tide around 5. If you are keen to demo gear this will be the best day if you can make it as it may get hectic thereafter.

Event registration all afternoon on site or Friday evening outside Gag Raglan at the end on Volcom lane in town.

Cost is $35 which includes Sat night BBQ, DJ and party at the Yot Club, prizes, and your 2008/2009 limited addition t-shirt. (chicks tees available).

Further registration available Saturday morning again outside Gag Raglan from around 9.30ish or later on site if you miss that.

A welcome and riders meeting will be held approx 10.30 outside Gag with riding kicking off from around 12 depending on wind conditions.

Sometime midway thru the arvo we plan to run an open mens and open womans expression session which is a chance for the more competitive participants to throw down and strut their stuff and a great chance for other’s to check out some of NZ best rippers including NZ champ Marc Jacobs and other top ranked riders up close .

BBQ and party back at Volcom lane from around 7ish .

Sunday morning recovery, sightseeing, surfing, wakeboarding, winching or whatever followed by riding all afternoon with a mega loop comp hour and possibly a bordercross thrown in.

Prize giving and wrap up around 6pm.

All the above plan is of course completely weather dependant and subject to change without notice. If in doubt check in at Volcom lane and ask BoBo the coffee man or some other clown.

If in the unlikely event of an easterly then the early morning incoming tide offshore bar session would be the call.

We have a few Thundercats and Jetski's coming, along with a wake winch and Scim/wake bungee's so bring all your toys and the right attitude as he who has the most fun wins!
