You would have thought that this was common sense, but it seems to constantly need repeating .....

DO NOT KITE NEAR SWIMMERS AT ANY BEACH. NO MATTER HOW GOOD YOU THINK YOU ARE.

There was another kiter at Shakespear today, kiting 2-3m off the beach among swimmers, spraying some with water off his board etc. Blue/black 12m delta kite and helmet, up there a bit, (you know who you are).

All it takes is one person who knows a councillor, or one injury (even if it is not your fault) and we are banned from the beach. Once we get the flick from one beach, the precedent is set. With all the coverage of this you think people would get it, but apparently this only applies to other people.

DO NOT KITE WITHIN KITLINE LENGTH OF ANY SWIMMERS AT THE BEACH.

Interesting. If you look at an earlier post of mine called "Please don't get us banned from Orewa", you will notice that the description of the culprit's kite is the same. It may very well be the same idiot causing trouble everywhere.

I suppose these people seriously lack common sence and will only wake up when we start getting banned from beaches.

I dont think idiots like this will wake up when we get banned from beaches.

Chances are they wont make the connection and just blame it on some other 'idiot'.

People like this dont have the little part of the brain that defines going hard from being reckless and intimidating to others.[/quote]

Its just not good enough eh ! Its up to us as a kiting collective to lay down the lay to anyone showing disreguard for other water uses . If you are one of those Kiters RIDING TO FAST OR TO CLOSE TO SWIMMERS then expect to cop a load of s**t from the rest of us ! Its not on, there is so much room out there and so many spots to kite this shouldn't be happening ! I have been riding for about 7 years and don't find it hard to stay away or at least the required 50m from swimmers. Whats your excues ? I WOULD LOVE TO HEAR IT , not here on the forum but in person at the beach , don't be shy now ! Chris , Airush !
WOULD RATHER KITE THAN DO A THING ! FULLY ADDICTED , HIGH AS A KITE AND NEVER WANT TO COME DOWN .......

Also, education is key, you should always go over, and as nicely as you can, tell him or her what the deal is and to go somewhere more suited in future or get us all banned. If they don't want to listen or avoid you, get a ranger or some other sort to go and kick em out, pointing out how you're a concerned kiter wanting to keep the beach safe.

If you don't tell them, they'll keep doing it and get us banned and you'll wish you had acted when you had the chance.
