Hey guys

I am from Scandinavia and planning a trip to NZ 15dec/12jan with a friend.
Hope that I could get some input of nice places for kite surfing near Christchurch or south of the city? Also around Queenstown.
I don't have much experience, and therefore it could be great to get some input from the locals where to go for beginners in the areas. I am mobil and planning to go from Qtown up north towards Auckland, and of course all the places you will suggest me regarding kitesurfing.

Also info of board rental in Christchurch/NZ appreciated.

Cheers!
Best Regards,
Jari

Hey dude,

Christchurch is great, learner spots can be found in the estuary, the complete beginner spot is upwind of where eveyone else flies, im not sure of exact location but you just walk a bit further around for the normal launch spot.

Otherwise the beach itself provides a nice place to learn, although waves make it harder if you a total begineer. Im not sure of your level.

When you arrive jump back onto the forum and we can get in touch and get you out on the water.

Im not sure about anyone that does board rental. Possibly Groundswell or kitesports.

Scandinavia[1] is a historical and geographical region centred on the Scandinavian Peninsula in Northern Europe. In the strictest sense it consists of the kingdoms of Norway, Sweden and Denmark,[2] with some sources also including the nations of Finland and Iceland as well.

I have a friend from finland. When spring comes they snow kite out onto the ice and snow covered ocean in their dry suits till they find a hole... then they change there boards and go kite surfing. hard core eh??

Hey,

Yes you are absolute right about Scandinavia. I am from Denmark.
Denmark does not have that much snow or ice as Finland, Sweden or Norway.
But we have Carlsberg....! (thrust you know that?)

But anyway, I am really looking forward going to NZ and get out on the water with you. I only need to practice my "going up the wind" and "switch direction" without sitting back.

Last question. I have an 11m kite and planning to buy one 9m, but I don't know if I will do it this year. But it really depends of the wind in NZ. Do you have many days where the wind is too strong??

Thanks,

Christchurch - do you also have a phone or email where I can get in touch with you?

Hanza,,
I will contact you when I get to Queenstown and have a local phone.
Best Regards,
Jari
