Hi Guys & Gals,

We have a few places left on our Aitutaki trip, set for August 9-17. I realise it is short notice but if you think you might like to come along please give us a call or email and we can give you more details.

It should be an awesome trip, Aitutaki has been kited by only a few, but has been raved about by those who have been there. August is in the middle of their windy season, so we will look forward to warm, strong South East trade winds blowing across the blue lagoon.

Probably not suited to beginners, but if you can stay upwind easily then you can come! Limited numbers apply.

Cheers

Was there last winter, really special place.

A boat for lagoon access would be a great help for the really good stuff. Pick any sand bar or little island.
Big long sand bar near One Foot Island is wicked and the area around Honeymoon island is really good too.

Picture perfect clear blue water and white sand.

No we didnt bring food, just duty-free. Price on food was pretty reasonable I thought.
Where else in the world can you go to the local fish & chip shop buy a $4 fish burger and open it up to find a 1 inch thick tuna steak freshly could that morning.
There is a few small super market / shops scattered around the island, the price is variable so shop around. High end resort meals were similar to what youd pay in NZ. Buffets are the thing to do and most of them come with cultural entertainment (be prepared to get up and shake it). Fruit is everywhere around the island, banana, coconut, paw paw, and lime for Mojitos etc borrow a machete and go on hording missions. The locals are normally cool with it and may tell you where to find the best fruit or not.

-Avoid the flash lagoon resort/spa place like a steaming dog turd. The one on Raro is ok though. Inano's is actually nicer for about 10% of the price and you don't have to wait for the silly ferry boat.

-Get a boat and head to the little islands further out. Honeymoon Island is the shizzle. One foot wasn't so good as the SE didn't seem to get in there as much. If you don't have a boat you might struggle. The SE doesn't really get in there properly and the beaches are mostly sharp coral infested. Out on the little islands is where its at.

- Don't forget Rarotonga itself. Inside the reef is pretty sweet riding.

- Get into the pork chops at the Samade, next to Inanos.

- No wind? Hire scooters and go racing

- Food was surprisingly cheap. Some things were ridiculous, but most stuff was pretty good. Take stuff across from Raro maybe.

Hey, great to hear there's a crew headed for Inanos. I've been talking to the owner Moeau about helping him market to kitesurfers. He digs us and by all accounts is very accommodating. I want to help him out by putting a section up for him on www.snowkitesurf.com
but he doesn't have much to offer in the way of images. If some of you could get together some images after your trip and forward to me would be great. Thanks
