the snowboard season is over so im getting out my kitesurfer which ive hardly used...does anyone know of any kitesurfing clubs around? i am wanting to meet people of similar ability to go kitesurfing with. mainly on the estuary.

but i would suggest you just get out your gear and head down to the estury. If the surfers are anything like the land crew in christchurch then they should be more than happy to help you.

go to the estuary, there will be ppl kiting there if it's kitable (check the tides), talk to them, they are a friendly bunch

otherwise there is the Canterbury Windsports Association the CWA www.cwa.org.nz have a read of the events page (I dunno if John has updated it yet though!)

Just get on down to the estuary when there's a NE wind, ~3 hours before high tide and up to ~4 hours after (there's about an hour delay on tides at Lyttelton and the beach). If the tide's out and the NE is blowin then head for the beach. It there's no wind then go visit one of the kite shops in Ferrymead and talk shop. The CWA club is good for organising events and social gatherings where you can hang out with some really cool people . We're workin on the events calendar - watch this space: cwa.org.nz/events.htm . The CWA also gives the sport a degree of credibility with other estuary and beach interest groups such as the local yacht and surf clubs and the council. Enuff said.
