Right, so there has been a few days now with the wind cranking down the harbour - i cant keep looking at the Reef and not ride it!

Need to know a few details from those that kite there.

I assume that the closer the wind is to E or W the better the reef is?
Garnet Rd is the rig up area?

When you are out on the reef/ beside it. Is it shallow, or does the it drop away deep very quick? ie if you get in shit, can you stand up say if you are within 50 metres from the reef? Is this the same for both sides. If it does get shallow what sort of window do you have each side of the tide 1 hr. 2 hr? is it best only on an incoming tide or outgoing?

Thats really all the questions i can think of at the moment. Any advice appreciated.

Cheers
Will

Yep Meola is a wicked flat water spot but can be frustrating at times... so many variables involved.
Quickly though, works well in a west to south west over the low tide out past the big pole. Lots of flat water, mostly shallow and reasonably safe. Down side is the long walk out/back and hard to judge the wind strenght from the car park.
2 to 3 hours before high tide works well in a west to nnwest... glass calm water behind the mangroves... lots of covered sharp osters beds down wind.. check it out at low tide and memorise where they are or suffer some major pain... can be alittle gusty hehe but so worth it when its on.
There are way better, safer and easier options if you are a beginner/intermediate kiter though.
Jamie re your question on the wake forum about cable parks... Bli bli on the Sunshine coast is awesome lots of sliders and a few Kiwi's hang there all winter. Check though, if you are planning a trip, which days it is open. Over the winter they are closed tuesday to thursday, not sure when they go back to 7day opening.
Char and I are off to Florida this week to catch up with friends and 'train' for the Wakeboard Worlds champs in Reno. From Reno heading to The Gorge, Hood river, Oregon to catch up with the Slingshot crew and kite for 9 days solid....can't wait!
