Hi Guys & Gals,

We have a few places left on our Samoa trip, set for August 2-10. I realise it is short notice but if you think you might like to come along please give us a call or email and we can give you more details.

It should be an awesome trip, Samoa seems to be fairly undiscovered for kiting but has been extensively windsurfed and surfed. In fact during August most surfers wont go, saying that it is too blown out

Probably not suited to beginners, but if you can stay upwind easily then you can come! Limited numbers apply.

Cheers

undiscovered? i've been going kiting there for years, and dozens of other forum users, especially yachties have been lapping up its kiting delights. unfortunately, from what i hear you guys are basing yourself in the worst possible location @ Aggie Greys resort. i hope you quickly figure that out and head for the SE corner called Lalomanu or the N of Savaii for reasons i could write a book about but won't.

good luck but aggie greys? (NW vacuum spot in SE trades) you must have rocks in your heads.

Yep you are bang on with your comments Shaan.
Jamie, you guys will need to get your arse on the boat and head to Savaii, you will find massive turquoise flat water lagoons with pealing 2-3 foot waves breaking on the edge of the reef..WICKED The only place that is worth launching a kite on main Island is either from the beach at Coconuts or as Shaan said Lalomanu which is well over an hours drive. Good luck

"Fairly undiscovered" as it not really that well known for kiting, but it obviously has been ridden more than I thought!

It seems that there are two schools of thoughts on Aggie Greys for kiting. I have heard that it is the windiest and flattest spot on the island from lots of different guys, similar to how Nana Nu I Ra is windier than the rest of Fiji, even though it is geographically in the lee of the main island. In fact, the South Pacific Games are holding the sailing events in front of Aggie Greys just before we go. Pete from Island Holidays, who is helping organise the trip has spent a few years living on Samoa working at surf resorts, is the one who convinced us of Aggie Greys as the best spot to kite in the first place and I trust his judgment.

We will have vehicles so we can travel to the best spots for the day, and in fact have booked in for Coconuts (hopefully with a boat too) for the second half of the trip, so we should have the flexibility to kite where it is best.

Thanks for the input! Any tips are welcomed; we want to make this a great (and hopefully annual) trip.

Cheers

Jamie

I have been there twice totalling six odd weeks with kiting top of priority and know the area pretty well. If its not too late I would STRONGLY suggest you look into accommodation on Savaii, its really well priced and is some of the best kiting I have ever had. I stayed at a place called Tanus pretty basic and had to walk about 300m to the launch spot. tough. A better place to go is Vacations, nice bar, great food and the premo kite spot is straight in front of the bar.all good

Hey where's a good place to book for the first night on the main Is?

I'm heading there in a couple of weeks and our flight gets in pretty late.

What about vehicle rentals wheres best to get them?

Cheers

Hugh

Wherever you stay Jamie, don't get ground floor rooms, they get ripped off regularly. A crew just got back from there and two of them got cameras etc stolen. Take your stuff with you, it's probably safer on the beach!

Yeah chain your jandals & towel up, make sure all traces of KFC are thoroughly disposed of & whatever you do don't take any Tommy Hilfiger gears with ya.

But all your kiting gear will be fine, tho... you can leave that out all night.
