Am planning a kite trip to New Caledonia over Christmas.
Has anyone been to the Loyalty Islands or Isle of Pines?
Are looking for recommendations on good beaches to kite and also cheap(ish) camping places.
Have stayed before at Anse Vata, but am keen to get out to nicer sandy beaches..

Cheers,
Pete.

Hey men, lived out there for 5 years ... unfortunatly was only a windsurfer then , ansevata has premuim flat water but its way way over crowded .... then all the island also have great spots ... there a couple owsum spots up in the land to ... wave and flat .... dont foget the nice warm water .... brr cant wait to get back

Planing to go out there myself during cristmas ... lucky for me still have few friends living there that im sure will be happy to host me

Anyways, all i can say is that if you have a chance to get out there you will enjoy every moment out kiting and you will fall inlove with the steady wind you can get ... when they ssay 20 nots for the day it is 20 nots not 15 or 25 like i get here over here on waiheke island

talk to you again when the time will come
Go for it ^_^

Cheers Hendrick.

I have already been to Anse Vata (and surrounding islands) and Poe so I know thos spots, but am having difficulty finding information about the ideal spots in the Loyalty Islands i.e. which Island and which closest campsite is best for which spots.
I am assuming that because of the Southeast trades then all beached facing that direction are ok? but are they all sandy on that side of the islands?

Also, is it possible to kite on Isle of Pines?
I know you can get a boat out to Nokanhui islet and that looks simply awesome!!

Wouldn't mind a chat sometime
- txt me your number on 0274627479 if this will be OK.

Pete.

Hi again, for the loyalty island all i can say is that my mates used to go to iles des pin for holidays but where to camp and wich beach they used to go to cant really help you, i suppose it wont be hard to find once you get to NC due to the Millions Kitesurfer.

There also is an island 30min from the city, if i remenber it was called L'araignere , its a tiny island close to the reef so you get flat flat water and perfect waves at the reef, due to the fact that its an island you get less plpl but its still quite crowded.

All the other loyalty island, i have been there but cant really remenber if it was kitable ... soz

If i can be of any other help just ask
Go for it ^_^

No kitin' allowed on Isle of Pines, or so the Chief there declared. Great spot for schmoozin' ya lady & ridin of another variety, tho...

...as for cheap camping, ask Ian of DVNT about his rice'n'onions spot under the stars...

haha you reminded me of a very funny trip - I managed to catch a total of 2 fish about 4cm long to go with the rice and onions using my mosquito net - complete failure as there were millions of them in the water at the time - all the water was moving- never tasted so good after a great days kiting.

There is a video of me and tim riding out on the reef if you go to "dvnt tv" on the dvnt website www.dvntkiteboarding.com

2 big shark encounters (Tims shark in video, other on reef) , 16 kavas in an hour, 2 lost surfboard fins - yes a memorable trip! Tres bien
