Yessir. The 3rd annual kiteforum.co.nz fancy dress beach party is on again, from 12 noon Sunday April 1 2007, at either Shakers, Orewa or Muriwai (weather dependent location to be advised by Saturday March 31).

It's time to get excited. It's time to light the lights. It's time to start planning your outfit - this year's theme is ROCKSTARS so get creative. Every year people lament that they didn't take this extremely prestigious event more seriously or they forgot to put it in their social diaries and missed it altogether - only to see the photos in the society pages and realise their folly - and the pointlessness of their own existences.

If you have never witnessed the spectacle of a bunch of kiters pushing social boundaries at the beach in fancy dress, what we're talking about is a day of debauchery and free love, with free bbq and booze laid on by kiteforum.co.nz, free prizes for all and major prizes for best dressed and various other categories. Who cares if you can't kite, as long as you can make a fool of yourself, you can easily scoop major celebrity honours at this circus.

Any way the theme of the party could be changed to something else other than Rockstar...it's a bit too restricted I think.
70s theme...it's quite common but the costumes expected would probably be very different.

can someone who has access to long range buoyweather give us the forecast for sunday? i suspect it will be more of the same, wet NE shite or maybe wet NW shite, not good BBQ weather but we will see...

thanks - that's what i'm seeing as well. on that basis i am going to postpone the event as the NW location, Muriwai is quite unmanageable at the best of times, with riders spread over very large areas. adding light winds and probable rain showers into the mix does not inspire me.
