Wind sunday evening around 7:00 PM and ran heats until 9:30 PM.
Finished comp Monday at 6:00 PM.
Wind was offshore and current wrong in the arvo so had the judges following the riders who were going downwind (impossible to make it upwind wit 7knots of current).

Great comp, great wind and great entertainment! Big ups to Delphine and crew for getting it all together. Thanks to the judges for giving us spectators plenty to ponder over and to all the riders who busted out their ballsiest kite loops in close!

Particularly stunning was World Legend #2 Tony's toeside backroll with reverse kiteloop to Torrin, who was innocently taking photos of his old man in the Legends final.

The premium hospitality was appreciated. Thanks Aaron, Cindy & Andy, Shane & Sue. Nelson rocks! Thanks to all the party people for being such willing participants.

Stoked to catch up with good friends and see how good that little punk Marc Jacobs has actually got. He da man. Jamie has come on too and is a helluva nice guy who deserves recognition. The whole crew from Tauranga were the big winners in my book and the most improved.

Does anyone who was there want to dissect the final?
There was a 7 knot outgoing current with a SW so competitors were going downwind really quickly. Not optimum conditions for a final unfortunately.

We thought Jamie had blown it when his kite kept kite-looping after he had let go of the bar. Why did that happen? He ditched the kite and was highly fortunate that someone on the beach caught it before it flew out to sea.

Marc ended up in the dry shallows out the front and couldn't do anything without crossing the sandbar which he could have done.

Jamie was way offshore and spectators like me weren't even watching him. I have no idea what tricks he was doing out there but the judges were obviously watching.
