Common all Auckland kitesurfers, how come we don't have a club? Or have I just not got a clue were to find one. This will enable us to ride together give advice help out, give each other a txt to say where the best spot of the day is lets support each other and get some competitions in this area. What you say aye? 8)

Clubs were replaced by forums.
It is as simple as that.

Advice is always available here, and spreading out is way better than all turning up at the same spot - god help us....!

I sort of understand your motives from the social point of view, but I don't think any club represention is a good idea at all. Kiteboarding is an individuals sport and this ensures riders take responsibility for their own actions.

And all these constructive & productive meetings we have on kite forums allow us to develop the sport in New Zealand to the point of being banned from our favorite kite spots, all because someone does something dumb, maybe they don't know better, maybe they do dumb things often (plenty of these people around). Then the public complains, someone dies, a swimmer drowns cause a lifeguard is playing taxi for a wayward kiteboarder. Problem with clubs is all the work, & someone (usually one person or just a few do most of it)
Here in Christchurch John T does huge amounts of work for our club the CWA 'Canterbury Windsports Association', check out the website he put together, www.cwa.org.nz it's a cool club to be part of...

If there is no club in your area & you see issues or whatever, I'd approach like minded outdoor types (if they are) sailing, surfing, surf life saving clubs etc & join them, educate them, discuss issues when our different sports cross paths, look at ways round.... then kiteboarding will start to get the repsect we think it deserves.
