Lyall Bay
Hi Guys

Looks like we are on a watching brief from both the Wellington airport and the surf club at Lyall Bay at the moment. The airport have started taking phone numbers so please follow their rules...

From the airport's perspective there are 2 things:

(1) first kiter there rings the tower to let them know that you are going to be kite surfing (04) 3871980, and
(2) when on the water, stay to the west the road that the Briscoe's building is on. To be super safe use the building with the big "ACCOUNTANTS" sign on it as your marker. The airport controls the airspace and can kick us off the beach.

From the surfclubs perspective we just gotta kite safe, keep your distance from other water users and we should be sweet, particularly swimmers, and don't spray surfers with your wash. The local rule is if you aren't kiting up-wind or are not confident, please kite Petone, Lyall is for intermediate and advanced kiters.

Lyall is an awesome spot and we wanna keep it, so stick to the rules and we will keep it.
