Hi

I have just ordered a kite and harness so I guess I better start building a board!

Im only 60kg and 165cm tall.... and I have the hobbit feet to match

I was thinking of making something around 130cm long and 40cm at the widest point. Flattish between my straps that I will set at a wide stance (as thats how I ride a my mal and skateboard) with around 3mm rise from the center out to the straps then another 27mm from straps out to the tips. I was going to use a double concave with the sides being 6mm deep and the middle spine being 3-5mm deep (so it still has a very slight of a overall single concave) . I was thinking of also keeping this concave within the tip width (tunnel concave i think is the term i have seen) and then use the area that is left to flare back up (like undergrounds new bottoms)

So thats the shape.... any suggestions?

The construction will be made from a 10mm foam and balsa core tapered at the tips to make them a bit flexy (good for landings ?) I will also be using my own method for inserting a carbon beam within the core between the foot pad so it will have little if any flex in the middle. Should I by tying to control the tensional twist (I assume there are huge forces trying to twist an edge out of the water) or are the forces more nose to tail? either way I will use carbon to make sure it only moves how I want. Im not sure about rails yet, ABS look easy but I love wood so i might bend up some solid wood as it can be shape with little effort while i sort out what sort of rail profile i like (any suggestions) I have no clue as to what the outline should be... i was thinking an elips with some cut off the end for square tips

I will be finishing it all with either a wooden veneer or some really bad fabric i found on a bed base... soo ugly its co..o...l.. no its just ugly but I like.

Any suggestions are welcome cause all i know how to do is make a board not what shape and form to make it. I have another post asking for lessons in exchange for a board at material costs for any one who is interested And any one who wouldnt mind letting me ride a board to see what dose what that would be awesome!

Hey Jestah... assume you're the same Jestah_nz from boardbuilding. NZGene from boardbuilding here. Hehehe... come to Auckland mate and we'll sort you out. Unfortunately I don't know that many kiters in Wellington and I'm not due down there for business soon either.

Otherwise also repost your board questions on boardbuilding and I'll try answering there. I don't keep track of my posts in this forum much. You'll probably not get much reply on that topic here either.
