I was wanting to try out KiteSnowboarding this winter . Does anyone know if there are any good areas on Mt Ruapehu that would be suitable for a beginner . Ohakune or Whakapapa ?

You might want to contact Chris Gebbie of 'High-as-a-Kite' (http://www.highasakite.co.nz/), as he is based in National Park and regually snowkites around that area.....

If he doesn't know then no-one will...

mt ruapehu would be ok for kiteing, but you have to get a day when the wind is right as it can very gusty with a lot of peaks.
the best places could be the sumit side at whakapapa (45 min hike ) or out to either side of turoa, the glacier it's a deep vally but with an up or down hill wind could be good or out west big sort of flat area. but again it all come down to the wind. 200km anyone! :wink:
