Well ever since the forum has been back online with the new so called faster nz servers i have found it VERY slow and clunky.

To a point were a find it very difficult to use. Its by far the slowest clunkiest forum i use and much worse than before the change.

Quite sad really.

Hi Plummet

We have been working through the speed issues with the forum and have enhanced it's speed over the lst 24 hours. We are still fine tuning the server and are yet to implement the rocket technology that will really blast this forum through the net.

Server update is due for release in August so please bare with as we are working on this every day.

Just out of interest, can you please post some details about your computer setup, such as processor, ram, operating system and browser flava and version. This would greatly help.

Thanks
Jason

P.S Also, if there is a particular activity that you are performing on the forum that seems to take forever, please advise.

too much banner space and not enough of the screen content is in view - i use a 40 inch flat screen but the page makes it feel like i'm using a phone screen - loads of scrolling up and down just to read a paragraph
Hmm, to kitesurf or to landboard? That is the question for a kite addicted junkie.

Can we lose or shrink the banner? It's taking up too much space.

I just tried to post to say that the banner needs to go (or reduced at least). When I posted, I got an error : "504 Gateway Timeout"

Hi All

In response to the topic on the forums speed, I was up late last night making some changes to the web server, caching settings and database optimisations. While doing this created some issues (such as Gateway Timeouts), the major outcome was a significant improvement to the speed of the forum.

Thank you Plumment for bringing this to my attention.

I made some fairly large configuration changes that have shown some massive improvements in speed. This is also in anticipation of a new version of the web server which will mean a further improvement in speed for serving the forums web pages in the near future. Release is due out next month for testing.

I have been testing again this morning and the forum is far from Slow and Clunky now!

Please let me know if you are experiencing any other issues and will investigate these for you.

Thank you for your patience.

This morning it thought I was logged on as Scramble. Even though I could see my own personal messages. Then browsing a thread all the posts were out of order and the dates out of wack so seems something between the indexing, tokens and cache got horribly mixed up.

Layout is not great for a wide screen either... too much of the screen taken up my banners and menu bar. Another annoying feature is that the hover over menus don't always go away and you almost have to refresh the screen to see the posts again. Very clunky.

Using Firefox 5.

504 Gateway timeout on every post.

This morning it thought I was logged on as scramble even though I could see my own posts. Then browsing a thread the post order and dates of the posts were out of wack too. Seems something between the cache,, indexing and tokens got way out of synch. I had to drop my cache to get some order back.

As far as layout the banner and menu bar take up to much space. Terrible on a wide screen. The hover over menus also don't always reset meaning you have to refresh to get to see the thread again.

Using Firefox 5.0.

Ditto but for latest Firefox too. Yesterday every thread I viewed had my logon associated with another userid ie. one page I'd be Scramble and another I'd be Northenal. When I tried to reply to one the thread id had me reply associated with another thread altogether... and then still more of the 504 Gateway stuff(hence the double posts)
