Wish I never bought a Ground Industries mountain board.
I bought a GI board (patrol) last december. Had it for about 4 weeks and maybe had 20 hours at the most of riding time on it, before it snapped. I was gullible enough to think that GI was going to come to the party with a warranty on this.

On their website they claim they will answer all warranty claims within 15 working days, (What a load of crap). So I must of emailed them about 5 times with no response. It was'nt until I bagged them on their facebook site that I got any sort of response.

They reckon they are going to give me a warranty but 6 months later I am still waiting.

Not only am I disappointed with my snapped board and Poor service but the bionic torsion trux are a load of rubbish as well.

The only saving grace in my purchase was that I bought it from Butch at Windwarriors. He has been good throughout the process and immediately sent me one of his boards to ride while this was getting sorted. So I am still riding his board with know idea, if or when this well ever get sorted out.

Hmmm i'm thinking about a new land board so this is useful!
Hmm, to kitesurf or to landboard? That is the question for a kite addicted junkie.

sorry to hear the board has snapped, i feel sorry for Butch too as it seems he is the warranty at the moment which shouldn't have to happen but its great service for sure. as an alternate Trampa decks are the shizzle, i know of no one world wide who has broken one, and im sure some one on here will speak up if they have. i have seen them drilled and reshaped like mad, very radical stuff and zero breaks i am aware of. if its just the deck you need then i would look hard at one of those. Butch used to run trampas with Kite deck and DEX too i think, i would be surprised if even he has broken one. google broken and trampa and see what you can find , i hope it helps

Hey Deano
GI is a dead duck, Definitely don't buy one of their boards. If you look at their facebook page, its full of people complaining about them. I think they are all stuck in the bottom of a bong. MBS or Trampa would be my recomendation.

Thats sad to here. I thought GI was the Shiz. As Jimmy states you will never break a Trampa deck. Butch might be able to sort you one of those too.

If the boys are running out of ideas/options I may be persuaded to build some custom carbon/bamboo decks (which will never break) with intergrated carbon trucks.

Let me know is you are keen.

PS If i do build some decks for you guys they will be strong, flexible and awesome. But they wont be production quality and you would have to expect minor imperfections.

Would love to see your board Plummet. What sort of trux set up do you have?
At the moment I still have Butches Board. Which is a conflict with Bionic Torsion Trux. The board is really nice actually. But don't like the trux. The king pins are a real weak link. I have had some solid stainless ones made, witch won't break. But I find the problem is between the torsion cube and the trux itself.

I haven't spoken with Butch lately so don't know what's going to happen really with this whole warranty thing.

think Carbon fibre revo trucks and your half way there. Pretty cool . The revos are the best truck i have ever used, never had a speed wobble no matter the speed , but i probably only got sub 50 kmph . Plummets board was made with out the thought of profit so it has many items that folks like MBS just couldnt market. i guess it will be the moose meet when we see you near Auckland Dave ?

See some pics here.

But also look at the De Ex genius board which has no kicks and the trucks mounted directly to the unkicked board. This is the style i will build except i plan to intergrate the carbon trucks into the board. no bolting required.

I use my adaptation to this revo/genius truck completley sealed with boots. It kicks the are off standard mountainboard truck designs that aren't designed for sand/salt water usage.

PS nobody in the world has ever made a carbon bamboo, intergated truck landboard before!!
PSS axle material is 2205 duplex.

Yes its a dam shame about the GI situation. They still make great riding boards & accessories but it seems they have been involved in a Law suit which has taken all the managements time and effort to sort out, leaving the business to stagnate for a while.
Ive been in contact with Matt Mclain the Chairman at GI recently and have been assured that your replacement deck is on its way within the month. I know its been a while and for that i apologise, but its beyond my control. I too have a snapped deck to have replaced so i feel your pain.
The Conflict of mine that your riding is a top quality board & the king pins need regular maintenance to ensure they are at their best. I hope its still riding ok?

As for Trampa Boards, yep theyre bombproof, i have 3 of them, 2 with revo trucks, and another spare sitting in the shed. They are also great boards and can be cusomised to your spec. I have an account with Trampa and can get any of their gear with a 10 day delivery from the UK.

If you want revo trucks, youll have to find someone with an existing set as theyre not made anymore. I Think Jimmy 22 has one of the Kitedeck boards i bought into NZ back in
2005 and Dave from Munro Boards has the other. Along with my mate Matt Cochrain and myself, these are the only ones in NZ. Good luck with that...

MBS are hard to get your hands on here in NZ too but i can also get these if anyone wants them.

So keep on riding that Conflict of mine and ill be in touch as soon as our replacement boards arive.

Chin up, at least ya got a quality board to ride in the meantime.......

Speak soon

Hey Butch
Your service and support with this has always been outstanding. And the Conflict is a great Board, I do like it alot.

Pulled your Truks apart and your king pins were intact and looking fine,(Alot different to mine) replaced cubes and had a great session at Muriwai.

Well send my truks down for you to have a look at. One of my Cube housings is split and need knew king pins.

I think you have been my saving grace in this matter and really appreciate it.

Ground Industries have done & still do make some of the BEST Mountainboards on the planet.
They are obviously going thru some issues with this law suit but that does not affect the awesome quality & rideability of their products.
Ive been riding for GI since mid 2006 and am super stoked with their gear.
Dont let one guys bad experience put you off some of the most hardcore Mountainboard gear around.
Law suits will come & go but a great mountainboard will last you years.
GI are going thru a bad patch as most businesses do, but they'll be back with avengance you wait and see.

Right im off for a session on my GI Conflict. Been riding this one over 3 years and is still rocking with no replacement bits or damage, just regular maintenance.

yeah i have to agree with Butch and 50. GI is one of the best if not the best mountain board buidler in the world. Its a toss up between GI and MBS. I'd throw my hat in the GI camp if i had to make a choice.

Trampa is a botique builder which is top quality. But its more expensive. i have never heard of a trampa breaking before.

In saying all of that. I found all the manufactures not up to the task for what I wanted so I built my own board.
