Western Circuit Points and News 15/05/2011
The 2nd round of the western circuit is now only 2 weeks away. The winter gathering, the Blue Balls Buggy Bash will be held at Port Waikato May 28 and 29. There will be points racing, speed trials, Dune riding and One make racing for the competitors as well as plenty of free riding and time for beer and generally catching up.
There will be 2 comps counting towards the points champs. “The Gate” Speed trial and a 1 hour technical course feature race. Racing will be on the beach on Saturday 28/5. The gate will be open for 1 hour from 1pm and the feature will take place immediately afterwards. If there is wind we will be riding the dunes in the evening and night. Sundays programme will be at the dune area.
The Gate is a radar gun speed trial. All competitors will run a standing 1km or 440mtrs and the speed at the end of the run will be measured as they ride through a gate made of flags. Everyone will get 2-4 runs depending on the number of competitors and the top individual runs will determine the placings. This is a points event.
BREAKING NEWS
There is a new racing series. Gannet from
www.kitezone.co.nz/ is running one make racing around Auckland. There have been a couple of days so far, we are planning on running an event at the Blue Balls and I am sure there are more to come.
This is very cool. We now have 2 buggy racing series, I am unsure if there will be a points tally or if its just for fun but the Auckland rounds will counting towards the Auckland points champs.
Please get involved with this if you possibly can. Bring your buddies. Bring anybody that ever seemed half interested. Get them along and get a kite in their hands. This is a great opportunity to get new people into the sport and for the old hands it just levels things up a bit.
POINTS and BORING STUFF.
The circuit got off to a brilliant start with a new event. The Naki Nut Buster in January was a spectacular success. Excessive winds battered the crew on Saturday and we had a near perfect wind on Sunday. A full competitive programme was completed including a Time Trial, Board Race, Ball Tag, Long Jump, Restaurant parking and a feature race. It was a great event and huge thanks must be given to Mr Plummet Plumtree for stepping up and making it happen.
At the Nut buster there was a small meeting.
Charlie Watson was elected Chief Steward.
It was agreed there would be 3 rounds in the 2011 champs with 2 points comps at each.
The meetings are. The Nut Buster, The Blue Balls, The moose.
Plummet and All were deputised as stewards to collect results from land comps in The Naki and Auckland so a points champ can be declared at the end of the season. The season being from the Nut Buster to the Moose.
Points will be awarded 10, 6, 4, 3, 2, 1.
There will be a board points champs for boards, doom wheels and all manner of stand up devices.
If boards run with the buggies the points will be counted separately. Lower placings behind that damned board rider will be bumped up.
Going into The Blue Balls the Buggy points championship is still wide open. There is potential for new riders to come in and steal the show. The young wild card from Wellington showed up everyone in the time trial and with points from the feature walked away with the points lead. Well done Thomas. Better get your game face on if you want to stay up the front.
