Just wondering what other options are in the Auckland area other than at the beaches.
Found one possible area that could be a good option. Has anyone flown at the naval playing fields near Devenport.

Yeh I know Pete, But tides, wind and time constraints don't always make it the best option

thers a spot called bastion point....off "kiteoma" road strangley enough

maps.google.co.nz/maps?hl=en&ie=UTF8...248&t=h&z=16

works in most winds exept anything south..quite a large spot with a moderatley steep hill making for good jumps in a northerly.

South Auckland locations - Weymouth Park works well on Westerly winds but is only the width of two rugby pitches. Also, Bruce Pullman Park in Takanini is a fav haunt for the land yachts. As Gannet stated MURIWAI – photo included from yesterday to demonstrate the point.

Hmm, to kitesurf or to landboard? That is the question for a kite addicted junkie.

I agree and it's a 120 km round trip for me

grounds at barrys pt road are good and closer than devonport plus the road works to devonport are really bad currently. just keep clear of cricket or what ever is going on. about 5 football fields in size. best is hatopetera coll but it is well protectected , first time i went there some of the fullas were in my face with in seconds saying" what are you doing in our crib bro ?" i cooly faced them and said im here to fly some kites and they said, oh true ? and it was ok from then but still a bit uneasy.

i actually felt sad they hadnt seen any kites like that before so after i left that day i hatched a plan that Kiteworks, Peterlynn Kites and I donated some kites to the school.
i havent been back since, but the on site teacher said they were pretty pleased
home made buggies, OZONE Yakuzza's , Yak Gts, Methods

I've played tennis down by the naval base but never buggied there.
I imagine it's like most other parks though .....lumpy and might tend to frustrate you a tad, but always better than no flying at all
