Moose Meet 2010 Race Results

The Moose meet saw the final round of the Western Circuit points Champs and a couple of fun events.
This year we had riders from Dunedin to Kerikeri and featured most of NZ’s top active buggy riders. It was nice to see so many South Islanders along including the official Rep Craig Knights who won the big Canterbury race and earned a flight to the moose sponsored by Peter Lynn Kites. There were plenty who chose not to race and just jammed around. we had great competition even though it was just a bunch of guys on the beach.

There were some standout moments. The TTT was stunning. We set a very technical course. Everybody got around it but the top 2 guys had it nailed and pushed it to the limit. Roy got some great times considering his mismatched back tyres. In the feature Gannet and Al got slow starts and faded back only to pick up the pace and charge through the field to battle it out for 3rd on the last mark. Craig setting up for the corner with a boost jump was amazing as it actually worked. It was great to see Aaron back in the game and Plummet as always showed up a bunch of buggies. Perrin won everything he entered with his immaculate technique and balls of steel. Young Joe showed up the field in the sprint by passing everyone including the race winner and running away from Craig. It was great to see Ted the rainbow man back from injury and mixing it up. It didn't happen for some but thanks for giving it a go and well done for the 70kph on debut for the new Carkeek speed Buggy

Slam of the day went to Troy Broad for his big off on the first hour of the first day. He bounced back and managed a 3rd on the last day.

Hats off to our new world record holders who raced for 24 hours on the Thursday and Friday.
