Well today was short cheaky and glorious.

I checked out a beach i hadn't been to before on the way home from down the coast.

Any way. i get to the beach and its thin and steep. about 30 meters wind with about 10 of hard sand and the rest soft indeed.

Wind is cranking a hard 30 knots and accelerating over the 5m or so high dunes.

I pull out the trusty 6m access and peel down the beach. since its so steep its like riding a massive swell. I peel up and into the soft sand a few tentative times. There's no grinding to a halt with the grannies. not with a 30 knot powered kite.

So u grow some confidence and start slashing some massive power slides in the soft sand.

It very hard work to try and peel up wind on the soft so i roost the upwind tack on the thin slither of hard and the peel downwind on the soft.

By the end of the session i'm max out at 44+kph on the completly soft sand and am throwing a massive sand wake like i do on the water kitesurfing.

Briliant.

So those who say you can't ride soft on a landboard are wrong!!! you just need monster tires and tones of power.

Any way the beach opens up to a flatter estuary and small dune area. a little stream to jump and more steep soft roosting after the stream. Nice. Its going to be all mine too i doubt this spot has ever seen any landkiters before.

enough beach for me!!! the angle of the beach made the ride cool. slash up and slide down. i'm used to riding marginal beaches. 25 meters of sand thats not wet is a luxury.

cold? not too bad. but i do sport a marmot wind breaker and icebreaker marino shirt which keeps me warm to silly low temps. definatly warmer than in the water with a wettie.

plumbtree im very proud of you....
that looks truely exiting, thoes roosters are massive....
its a fine machine you have created their..
im pleased you have rocked the soft stuff, it means you should be able to rock the moose....we need to find a way to pull you out if the wind is straight onshore...tandem buggy or something so you can come for a crazy downwinder with us, if its a s/wester then we can get from the campsite all the way to the lagoons and even all the way down the spit, i recon watching the vid that youl be able to nail the moose..

yeah bro i'll be roosting those dunes. but its damn hard work and and requires razor sharp reflexes and stupid amounts of power. i can't hold and upwind line easily. but when the tides in i may have to zig zag down wind and do the walk of shame upwind.... none the less i am going to launch off one of those dune lips.

ps i expect you to pony up and do a midnight session when me and the ganetor are 24hr ing.

i will be around, im sure you will make it known around the campsite that its time to accompany the 24hour bandits for a lap or two...

ill see how many miles i can do on one beer before i
A need another one.
B burp more ofton than i tack
C need to pee
D crash.

i think if the winds right you shold see how much moose you can eat on one longhaul downwinder, we will take some lunch and maby a video of you trying to get out again

naaa, we will pull you out....i have a tandem rig we could use, but we have to fly 2 kites at the same time!!

like sitting on a tea tray attached to a bull..

Man that sounds like vintage moose. i'll be in. can't think of anything better than sitting on a tea tray towed by a bull. or in this case surely its a moose?

But can't be towed during any 24hr attempt. that would be cheating.
