TOPIC: Any results from auckland yet?

Any results from auckland yet? 1 year, 8 months ago #24819

Have you Auckland boys got any race results yet. I know you guys put the flags out from time to time. Any chance someone took a notebook and recorded any race results?

we havent raced since blueballs, raglan race in jan and moose meet 2009, cant remember when the previous one was. unless its a special weekend Perrin is only available on sundays, and often the weather doesnt play ball . we have had the most successful one off races in NE winds and id have to say those have been very few this year so far. i was focused on building racing buggies for a while, ironically i have not ever raced with one in a full blown event, hehe. i raced with my modded PL buggies in both previous events. currently much effort is going into building another buggy hopefully to have a run at the moose. next few weeks are planned out inc the static kite day and jazz band on the 12th sept at takapuna so i guess it might be the moose before i race again. still it only takes 2 to have a fun race

should? have already! it caused some healthy debate amongst the hardcore buggiers that just thought it was wrong! i can hold my own against standard bugs, but the super competative wide axle blokes with stupidly high aspect race kites are hard to beat on the board! buggers go faster upwind and downwind.

ps thats about the average age of kitesurfers down here! best you move to the naki and you might even feel abit on the young side!

pss i'm planning to hold a buggy/board race. since i'll be designing the course the odds will be stacked in my favour! shh don't tell the buggiers but there'l be section that you'll have to jump over or do a long downwind/upwind tack! that should sort those pesky buggiers with theres high aspect low lift kites!!

hahaha evil laugh! maybe a river crossing or 2.... boulder section. stop, get out make a sand castle get back in... that sort of stuff.

Hey Johnnie.

What we really need you to do is hold the notebook before and after the moose. These lads are always building buggies. We need them to get into the habit of racing them. the way to do that is really simple. Get the flags out. Shout go and write down the results.
Once they have developed a habit of racing then we can get somewhere. Just building new buggies all the time is not really getting us anywhere.

Perrin has some flags. Wayne has some flags, I am sure you have something that you can use to mark a course.

Any course will do. Just get them to ride it.

well, i honestly believe that if your to old for kitesurfing you need to take up buggying, i must add however, that one of the most inspiring things about kitesurfing is that old guys still continue to rock...
thats one of the things i personaly love about the sport, i know iv still got decades to go with it before im done, coming from a mountainbiking background i know that if you wish to be even half comitted to it you have to bee willing to take the knocks, so i took up buggying instead..
seriusly, im not kidding.... 5 years go when i came to NZ i was still i mountainbiker, hadnt touched a kite and i knew my days in mtb were fading as i just diddnt bounce enuff (im 30)
i took up kiting and havnt looked back...mountain biking started to hurt to much.
buggying is not as 3D as kitesuring, but you can go hellish fast and still be well within your comfort zone..
your an oldschool kiter man,
you will be fine...the hard knocks are just there to remind you whose boss...you will recover enuff to give him the finger every now an again.

dr, watson....i have my notebook...
and im going to the beach tomorrow with flags and my racing underpants on, if anybody wants to join me ill be their from 10am

sadly i never found my hat, i grievd for a good week about it and still look under the seat in the van just to make sure its not their, i think it must have fallen out of my jumper on the way up the sandhill.

it was my best hat, it made me very sad.

Re: Any results from auckland yet? 1 year, 8 months ago #24848

You lost the best hat in the world? Al that is seriously poor form. You only had about 12 hours. Very poor.

Did you race today?
