DAMN getting into this sport is not easy! Finding and buying equipment, waiting for the right wind for that first flight, untangling a birds nest of lines, buying more equipment, waiting for equipment, learning to use equipment...

... But I'm just about there! I have a new 6m Access XT + harness on the way (thanks Wind Warriors! ). A buggy that is collecting dust and a helmet that is still covered in shop gloss! Only a week or two now and I'll have all the bits and free time on my hands so all that's left to do is to find out who's in the area to go out and have a session with?

I'll no doubt be heading out by myself a fair few times but it would be good to collect a few names of who buggies in the greater Wellington region+. So even all the way up to foxton.

... hands up!

6m access is a fine kite. i have one in my quiver. make the trek to waikanae for your first flight. the access is a high wind kite in the right hands. however it still has punch if you wang it through the powerzone.

take it out in sub 20 knots to begin with. learn how the safeties work.

i'm in the tron every 3 months or so. was there last week. did a wee landboard session at petone water front. and then a kitesurf the next day. but its vey tight i don't suggest you fly there until you have the handle of the jandle.

ps not many buggiers/boarders down in the tron. maybe 2? or 3 between you and Butch in foxton.

YEah plan is to learn the ins and outs with the 6m and then in about 6 months (hopefully less) grab a 10m XT (provided all is going to plan) so I'll be able to cover a huge wind range and have a 2 kite quiver.

indeed you will have a huge wind range with the 10/6 combo.

mind you you may want to consider the manta for the 10m. its higher aspect so whould truck up wind better than the 10m access. its liftier too which is mucho fun once you get the hang of things.

in the lighter winds a lifty kite is not a big issue. also if you plan to lanboard the manta would be the better landboard kite.

Youll not find many buggiers down that way. All those kiters down there are scared of the land....... Anyways, Foxtons the best place to buggy near you. Loads of beach, dunes, and plenty of land kites and mountainboards to demo here at Wind Warriors.
Ill be in touch very soon,

See ya

yeah winter is fairly harsh as far as the wind goes. Really anywhere between parparaumu and Wanganui is fair game to landkite. apart from otaki which is crap. Butch is right he has the best spot. but its a good hour past waikanae. if you have time make the journey to foxton if not the hit up waikanie at the south end of the beach by the inlet. the beach is wider there. it gets abit skinny going up past the house. but in the right wind you can bang for miles up the beach.

Had my first good light wind blast today! Didn't get punished and had a great time in some weird cross shore gusty winds at Lyall Bay. Only about 7 or 8 knots but heaps of fun! ... untill i dunked it in the ocean... oh well.
