wow that looks intense. How close is your foot to the ground? do you need to raise the foot pegs?

also that tyre looks too flat. wouldn't you need a more rounded profile.

lastly the as allways looks moose looks freaken awesome. every time i see it, it renews my desire to build the dune board. damn you more $$$ Off the already depleated money tree. infact i'm digging through the roots i've i've already completly mowed the money tree away.

No problem with the foot pegs they haven't hit the ground yet , unlike me

the tyres work very will, I can balance on the flat when starting with kite over head
and the grooves help hold the edge when I'm cracked over

Well what can I say, the Moose is always AWESOME

Awesome! Must say I never did anything like the Moose on a kitebike and it looks tricky as heck. BAF'ing up and down Orewa has nothing on that!

surely you have at your disposal 2 mad kiters? Al? Perrin? Wayne?devide it into 3 its only 8 hours each.

Now i woke up at 5 and couldn't get back to sleep. thinking about those damn moose dunes. i'll be hoping for torential rain before the moose and the occasional shower during. if thats the cast i'll be able to shred all over the dunes!...... i might start my rain and wind dance now!!

Back onto the topic of buggy bikes

I think what you need to do is build a motorbuggybike! get that bad boy street legal and buggybike your way to work! hahaha.... imagine that! it would be a revolition for motorbikes. recumbent motorbikes..

now are there any laws saying your have to use hands to steer a motorbike?

qudos to the mighty gannet. a couple of weeks of kitebiking and he has a world record.....
thats crazy speed for such a device! dammit your beating my pb of 62kph on the landboard. i'm feeling a little emasculated.... ball size has shrunk a notch or two!

you reaslise i need to beat you..... grrr need hand out of cast... need to find hard beach and lots of wind..... ahhhh!

you need a speed board, longer lower and wider, with tail fins and a 7 litre V8.

personally i think just racing a buggy will help you.

unicycle kiting is next , note the record although amazing is an NZ record , pete needs a few more kmph to bust the mad euro guys record from 2002..

nah i just need the right conditions. the reality is theres only a few times a year i'm at a hard flat beach. then that has to magically time with the right wind/ direction/tide/time and have me in a mood to go fast. more often than not one of the critcal tactors is missing.

45 degrees behind you is the angle it adds and EXTRA 25kmph before the side pull comes on, and 25 degrees off down wind is the theory for ultimate top speed. my best speed ever came in 20 knots 74.4kmph. almost impossible to up wind back to the start with out several tacks, then the huge down winder lasting 30 seconds followed by 5 mins return trip. thats the smart way to get a record, wind angle.

i also find i want to hold a higher wind angle to compared to a buggy as i want the power of the kite to hold me up. if its too down wind i'm standing bolt upright and thats a bad postion to be in at high speed. but yes i understand your theories. for speedruns i like to slam cross wind sliding and then slowly angle downwind and reduce the slide until i reach the critical point of max speed/and still being held up by the kite.

I haven't had a instance in the last 2 years where i can just fang down the beach for km's at top speed. the speed runs have allways been on angles towards the sea or drift wood. so i've had 200-300m max to throw down some speed and then stop before hitting the water or the driftwood.

But the latest kite 8M Lei can handle a better down wind angle and still be powered..... i'm thinking that beast will be my speed weapon of choice.

the moose has a convex shape so you can start at one angle and go round the bend and maintain a solid running surface , hit the down wind and sine your heart out, no need to hit the drift wood. that makes it pretty special . we always look for cross on shores, now im looking for 45 degree winds since all my kites will go up wind so well i can still have travels both ways and one super fast...
