Are there any new West coast meets being planned? 2 years, 5 months ago #22745

Is anyone planning on any new events this year?

The Blue balls will again be in June or July. No doubt the Moose will be in October. There is some Outlaw racing in Raglan Jan 10.

I saw video from The mothers day moose and the solstice moose. Are these going to be a regular thing? Easter is available.

Power kiting on land seems to be recovering from the distraction that kitesurfing caused and now would be a good time to see who is keen to travel and race.

I don't get around like I used to and probably won't get to much.
I am planning on keeping records of the western circuit event competitions this year and we will be declaring a champion at the end of the year.

Events don't have to be big and flashy. Just give everyone plenty of notice, find somewhere for people to stay and give it a name. Preferably a silly name.

al is away for 5 weeks in england , peter is away for a couple so there arent many folks around to plan something in the short term. I think if you put a regular event that conflicts with a traditional family holiday it wont last that long, so i think we should aim it for a normal weekend. we had big trouble trying to get folks to do 90 mile last year, but if we did something feb/march i think we could get at least 5 buggies at the start, the biggest and easiest one has to be the moose.

i'm a starter for the 90 feb/march. that one is weather dependant tho. i'm don't driving 18 hours unless the forecast calls for perfect conditions.

You don't actually trust the weather forecast do you?

I know another guy who doesn't leave home unless its going to be perfect. He misses lots of great flying.

Wayne. If you want an event in Feb or march then set a date and tell the world. If people really want to go they will. If they can't get there then they can't. If they don't show because its too far or the weather forecast was poor then its their loss.

Commit Wayne. Then you can make up the rules.

The direction and approximate speed of the forecast is fairly repeatable. taking a punt on marginal weather for trips is ok for closer events. raglan for example. doing the 90 is a different. it involved days off work and lots of money.

but i'll take your advice and set a date and see who is keen.

ill look at the tides and the moon to get a day that has the best chance and see how its goes from there... Its not going to be at 90 mile though... moose race at a decent low just after the full moon. Plummet its more your dream to do the 90 mile, ill be happy just to do Baileys Beach, its far closer , longer, same hard sand and less traffic with big dune options so you get to organize that one. feb or march dates could be the go for 90 mile... yackers was keen to do it too and craig and steve might be keen now too ?!

once was ok, it was only my shoulder you landed on, they grow back. notice we never actually stopped moving, nor did nor kites stop flying... don't worry there will be lots of notice... you gotta try to come to the raglan event at 1pm on 10 th january too , and probably get that reactor, pay it of at 20.00 a week or something and pick it up in winter...
