What a afternoon out and well worth the travel across the city. When we got there it was blowing a very strong SW 20-30knots and really gusty. So Got the buggy off the car and got a loan kite from the Peter Lynn guys of a 1.8m Core and i was off, been pulled around the field by a little kite in a big wind, i had forgotten how much fun flighting stormy wind was especially when you've got soon much room downwind if it all goes pear shaped what a blast.

There was a good turn out with a few hopeful parents with single line kite watching the wind turning said kite inside out. But with that wind the single line kites came out and went away. Craig Hansen and the guys From Peter Lynn made it, Steven Gurney also came down still recovering from that sahara crash. He was there teaching his brother Michael to buggy and he did really well for his first time in a buggy and in stromy winds. Craig ripped it up with blokarts as usual, though some of those blokarts went a bit sideways at times one just missing myself and kirk who was filming craig at the time.

It was a great afternoon on the buggy and alot of fun was had by all. Took some footage and will try to edit it tonight into something watchable.

The next wigram kite day will be in around march time.

what sort of speeds did they get on the tarmac?

Not too fast, as no one was really pushing it with in those conditions but somewhere around the 60kmph mark maybe a little faster one brought a GPS with them as well so i'm only making a guess at the speeds.

I did wonder if this went ahead.

As for the Core.. that thing is EVIL. Well, the one they loaned me to to fly.

Craig gave it to me to demo/fly at last years press kite day once the single liners had dropped off a wee bit.

Awesome kite.. scary power when the northerly swings 90 degrees and increases to about 20-25kts catching you un-aware

Luckily had my wits to do the air-walk(run) and catch footing on landing and just drop it at the window edge before I got owned bad.
