Hi,

I'm currently travelling around NZ with my Buggy and I am now on my way back from Northland and was wondering which beaches are good for the buggy.

I've been to the Bay of Plenty already (without the buggy), so I think I'll head down on the west coast to Raglan first. Besides the Kapiti Coast, I have no idea where the beaches are good to buggy.

orewa hard as hell about 3km long e,ne facing
baileys longer than 90 mile sw facing
90 mile Hard as hell 88km long sw facing
anywhere from himatangi to paraparaumu. hard nw to sw facing

raglan ok only a couple of k's long nw facing
mokau W facing abit soft in places.

mt maunganui ne facing

if you find yourself in the naki give me a holla the beaches aren't superflash for buggying but it can be done.

From Auckland southwards...

West:
Piha, Kariotahi, Port Waikato(dunes), Raglan, Kawhia

East:
Clevedon/Maraetai(firm tidal flats), Miranda(just watch out for bird sanctuaries), Whitianga, Pauanui, Whangamata, Tauranga/Mt Maunganui, Papamoa, Ohope

I am in Raglan now, maybe staying for a couple of days.

Plummet, 90 mile beach is awesome, and the only beach I had good conditions so far.
If the "naki" is Taranaki, that's where I am heading after Raglan, could be there next weekend or some time next week.

Guster, thanks that's helpful. I was in the bay of plenty before my buggy arrived and found the beaches a bit "narrow" even at low tide (papamoa and ohope), could have been neap tides, I didn't have a tidebook by then.

Hit Foxton on yer way south. Great beach, bout 30km between estuaries(manawatu & Tangimoana), Awesome Dunes to bash and the Home of wind Warriors.

sunday is looking real good wind and weather wise. low tide at 3.30 16 knot westerly.
Fiztroy will have a cross/on and mokau direct on. let me know if your around. or even if you plan to hit mokau around that time i'd be keen to haul up there too.
