I did 120 kms a week ago, in the moose over 4-1/2 hours

I may have ago tomorrow as the wind is 25 knots W at 12 and low tide is at 12.37pm
so that could be 2.5 blurr weather at 70kms/hr for 5 hours
if it's that good I may have to stay at the moose and do the high tide and come out at 11pm after getting the world record
anyone got the day off
or is it just me and nigel nomates

aaah.... if only that 25knots came by on saturday and i would have been attempting it with you.

Thats hardcore... solo world record. no support crew! no cel phone coverage. Maybe you should swipe an eperb just incase the worst happens.

well if you attempt it another time and i'm not using my gear i could fire up the 6m access. that bad boy is more stable that the manta and will start when the manta gets overpowered and take you through to around 35knots.

i can also lean you my led lights. i've helmet and stem mountings. they'l do 3-4 hour each on full power or all night if you wind down to half power. 500 lumens each set. super powerfull superlight.

Also i thought about your sore arm issue and thought you could bolt a small pulley to the chickenloop stainless eye and run a strop from there to the ends of the handlebar.... it might work

If your really serious about doing missions at night then take a look at the Troutie lights, they rock. I am not sponsored in any way by Troutie but he does make good stuff. 1100 Lumens, fully water proof and with the battery I have just got will last 6.5 hours on high. Not many lights out there will do that for the price.

This one is also a killer deal price wise, not as bright and doesn't last as long.

Yaker, be VERY carefull with lithium ion or lithium polymer batteries in the water(i presume your using one or the other of these types of batteries). Both DO NOT like to get wet. Make sure that your batteries are 100% waterproof. if water gets in (salt water will be worse) you could end up with an explosion or melt down of several thousand degrees...

PS those lights look good. the deal extreme light which is a so called 900 lumens (one of my mates has one) is less bright then one of my 500 lumen sets.... buts its still i cheap set up. Your Troutie housing looks ok but with all leds pointing non adjustable in the same direction its a tad inefficient. You get spread of light if you have adjustable wide/spot.

Yes I am very aware of the exploding battery scenario and it is a real risk. I think more of an issue if the battery is punctured. I have plasti dipped the battery so it is completely waterproof and as a precaution have some additional padding and keep it is a dry bag. I have had conversations with troutie about getting more available light for the water. The new MCE Leds should be out in a months time so bumps the lumens up to 2000 for the same light. The light is designed to be low profile and light so small reflectors have been used. Its almost as good as my car headlights but a but as you pointed out a bit more focused with the beam pattern. He had used different optics to balance the throw and wide angle requirements.
He has got some more prototypes on the way so may sell mine at some point to get his latest stuff.

sounds interesting.
i made my lights about a year ago and 250 lumens per led was the highest available at the time. the mce leds to look the shizle.

wow, that some light
as it turns out the wind was coming in WNW about 25 knots
I could only get 10 kms/hr going north,
but I did a 78.4 kms/hr going south
and a wet ass going a cross the creek
so no big ks this time,
I see the weather is looking like crap here this weekend ,
only good for holding hands and walking the beach

i snuck to the beach yesterday for a lunch time session.
yeah 25 knots!
i get to the beach at low tide. bummer no beach the massive swell coming through was swollowing all the beach up!

grrr. no kiting for me.

infact the last 10 or so attempts have been crap..... i'm really starting to get pissed with the lack of decent kiting.

well after that rant of no kiting for a while i snuck out today at lunch time.....

this time i had some beach and a clean 14-18knots of onshore wind.
needless to say i punched out a quick 41km at lunch time averaging 29kph. my beach is by no means nice but it made for an interesting blast as i nuked over fist sized rocks at 40kph and jumps tyres and half a dingy hull that had washed up.

One time (at band camp) this alsation was running after me. that dog managed 40kph for a good km before it ran out of steam.

Ahhh... so i've had my kiting injection again. so i'm happy again.
