Reading about Steve Gurney and his disagreement with several boulders i thought its about time to share our battle wounds.

it will most likley turn into a whats the stupidest thing your done kiting thread!

here's mine.

its the time i was kiting to close to a fence and got lofted into to it to get the lines wound around a post and power up snapping the post and smashing it into my head. luckly i was wearing a helmet which took most the impact. In fact the helmet foam was crushed flat and the helmet plastic is the part that gashed more forehead.

Ohhh i don't want to think about what would have happened had i not been wearing a helmet.

Then just to add salt into the wound it was an electric fence that kept shocking me until i unhookes from the kite.

The morrel of the store? don't fly too close to fences!

Jimmy i know you have some battle scares. post em up and regail us with your story. i think it involves posts and fences too doesn't it?

its grinning at me plummet !!!

i havnt got any injuries (yet) i took up kiting because its safer than mountainbiking and so far its been true, now iv said it il have a walloping great crash as punishment for biing cockey...

however, i have

#1 blade fury and the dunes
so as plummet scoffs (il just roll past you buggyers as you change your kites)well this time it was true....any you can imagine my distane having a skuzzy landboarder (plummet) infront of me on my own turf (muriwai) so i decided to upsize from a 5m pansh ace to my sparkly new bladeIII 6.6 and overtake everybody with rampent overpower, well the overpower bit was true....i big squall came through just as i set off and, and off we went indeed, i hadnt learned about adjusting your center of pull and i had it set to far forward, so as the blade tookoff and apparent built up, it pulled the front wheel downwind and i couldnt steer upwind without tipping the buggy, so i just ended up barreling downwind faster an faster heading for the dunes, no big deal, just go up them right?? wrong this time, a small riverette had gouged a cut through the sand about 4feet high (read wall) an i was heading straight for it....well i missed it by about 6 feet and and made it up 25feet of a big duneface before coming to a stop...
i was horrified.....no controll whatsoever.

#2 reactors taking the piss outa me
this was stupig kiteflying for the camera, watch the solstice moose video

its almost at the end of the vid, then you get perrins gps crash, a proper crash!!
my crash diddnt hurt atall amazingly, but i properly bent my brand new $300 forks, and it just goes to show how violent bad kiteflying can be, that was a 3.8m kite and it made me a baby.....but it was about 25knots that day.

thats all i got.

no scars Al... Dissappointing! how about next weekend for another muriwai beach nuke?
Butch. I need more info! give us a story.
PS yes the size of the scar is not that big but its the proximity to my brain that was the worry.

I don't think I have scars from kiting accidents, in fact the worst thing that's happened to me is a sprained ankle when I was first learning to board, hit some soft sand and went over on my ankle, heard a load snap and the swelling was the size of an apple, thought I'd broken it.
Back in the buggy in three days at least

Oh man, if you think C's kick your ass, try the blade 2 4.9.

That kite is the kite that taught me to respect kites.

Still, with that many injuries you'd think you'd get the hint by now
