i complain bitterly about my crappy beach. but one of the bonuses of being 3mins from the beach at work is i can sneek out for a lunch time session.

oh yeah.

i jumped around. pretended to be a buggier and skidded round some flags and busted out a speed run on the 200m of beach i had spare. even got up to 47kph before i had to stop.

Not so much anymore... I've been keeping up with my land speeds lately!

I don't know about soft landings at those speeds either. Blew out the rotor cuff on my right shoulder hitting a wave. Scar on my cheek is when I connected my board without it coming off my feet when a wave closed on me and my left shoulder and neck is still stiff from my last speed session.

Not that I've got any gear anymore but if i was to land kite in South Taranaki I'd try....

NOT Opunake - onshore would need to be direct S which has occured only 3-4 times in last 2 years I've been there! SW/W is bit cross and rotored.

1) Tai Rd at the Maui Production station would be good in SE-W never anyone down there, dont go near the dunes and dotterels though!

2) Turn off at the 4square in Rahotu, go down to beach its a 5 min walk, but long and sandy, noone ever down there.

3) Pihama turn off near the old gas station, go to the surf spot called Puketapu, long beach, not too long walk, good in say W-SSE

4) Spot called Waiteka just out of Opunake,5-10 min walk over paddocks. longish beach W/SW.

all of the above would really be a mid - mid tide spots or lower due to limited beach / cliffs. One thing about south taranaki is there is always shitloads of wind!!

I work ion Gill St where do you work???

catch up some time.

David

Add to that:

1)Green Meadows in W-S flatter beach but more like 10min walk. Thinking about it this would be my pick of the bunch other than the walk, but having said that some juicy paddocks as well if you got permission.

2)Kaupokonui - google it

hmmm interesting info. i've looked at Tai road. didn't see anything worthy.... maybe i didn't look hard enough.

I also looked at rahotu on sunday but it was raining. the beach wasn't very wide but maybe it opens up round the corner?

I've also eye balled the paddocks but most of taranaki paddocks are small. fenced in. Since i tried to kill myself getting lofted into a fence i'm abit apprehensive about small paddocks.

ps i've pm'd you if you want talk kiting give me a call.
