Just got an email from flexifoil with the launch of their new website and range of kites and new for the buggiers is the scout buggy made for powder coated steel, not sure whether its a any cheaper then the stainless one and knowing flexi proabll not much cheaper.

They also have the new verison of the blade coming out thats the MKV and some new colours to go with the ranage dark grey and gold

I like that new colour scheme but not sure about the new website doesn't seem to have a lot of info on the products like it use to that is. Though it will only be available in 4.0m 4.9m and 6.5m with different colours for each size.

Here is the new Scout buggy to

Well i dont think ill be getting rid of my stainless flexi anytime soon... That thing just doesnt look like it will take the same punishment... I could be wrong tho..

What i want to see now is the flexi freestyle team riding them and giving them a good thrashing. That will help to see how strong they are...

I'm not to keen on the scout buggy either looks like a cheaper beginner/intermedate buggy but the price doesn't reflect that and for that price $1156 (449pounds) i would buy a stainless one from PL at $775.

I think this might be part of the reason there are more on landboards than buggies looks so much cheaper to get into landboarding than buggying with boards as cheap as $400 new.

yeah that is true.. but then who ever pays full price for gear these days anyway... i paid 750 for my flexi brand new when i got it...

I do know that there are some of the tracker mountain boards in the country... None of the hunter boards i dont think.. Not to badly priced either..

The thing i am interested in here is the new seat... Rob has said that it is sooo much better than the old one. So is prob worth looking at retro fitting to the old buggies....

i think a buggy bags seat is a better bet, same cost id guess. The scout could be stronger but its no good for sea side antics for more than a couple of years. If only PL would make thier euro buggies like our nz ones then flexi could stick to kites. PL has made a great new rear axle most high profile flexi buggy pilots are taking to, i say make some PL after market side rails next , then a goose neck , then a fork ! Creep up on them from behind.

looks to me like they have started cost cutting, thoes blades now look like ever other jeneric kite out....theyv done away with the intake gause wich was always nice and the bridal quality has gone..and the canopy is starting to follow the same lines as a pepper, im really quite horrified....the blade is actualy a now a ford mondaeo.tragic.

I hate to say it but i think you are somewhat correct there... It seems that alot of the land stuff of theirs have gone down this route of cheaper production... Which is a real shame...

Im not making any vast judgements on the kite from 3 pictures... But one thing i do notice is there is no longer the cross over bridal like there was on the mkIV. Would be interesting to see it flying beside the mkIV to get a true comparison. Im going to see if i can track down some more information on it... But im not overly worried... inflatables/depower is the way forward for me...

Plummet, coming to chch at any stage this year?? Summer? You should cause it would be epic ride sessions...

ahhh.... no plans for chch trip either. i had one lined up for work but it turned pear shaped. can't see me jumping the ditch anytime soon for a manly kiting trip either as i just don't have the funds or time. 3 kids one income and a massive mortgage put a holt on any such shinanagans. will try and organise some kind of land gathering in the lower north island in the next 6months or so. dixie, 50psi, butch.... would make for an epic session. lets face it any session with another landboarder that can get air or go faster than 40kph will be an epic session. in the last 12 months how many landboarders have i seen? a grand total of zero!.........

poor old plummet, i feel for you buddy i really do.
it makes a lot of sence to downgrade blades because ther in direct competition with depower in the freestyle market and hellish expencive....if blades and depower are the same price, chances are the whole market would go with depower, so you cut costs of blades (hopefully bringing the price down, coz lets face it, it has to now reflecting quality)
and bring out a depower kite as expencive as an old blade, your on a winner.
the blade has been knocked off its perch and the mark 5 is the proof of changes in the market..
depower is the new way..

the reality is that depower is alot cheaper than blades as you can get away with 1 depower kite for 2-3 blades. however the freestyling buggy guys in england still swear by blades. maybe due to the fact that most of them are sponsered by flexifoil.

hehe yep i fell for me too.... hark! whats that sound i can hear? i think its the sound of the worlds smallest violin!

I assume by depower you are mainly taking LEI kites? As i don't think the ram-air depowers are as powerful or as fast as a fixed bridle kite of the same size, though they do cover a wider wind range.

naaa man, depower foils..it wont be long before they take over the world!
i agree tho, fixed bridals are more powerful than anything, but howmuch power do you really need? my old fixedbridal 3.5m n-gen will go 80kph easy and lift me and buggy easily off the ground in 20knots...but 22knots and i start to slide out and need to weight up the buggy or put a smaller kite up.its just stupid power id sacrifice for control anyday, but i wouldnt sell the kite...so i suppose their is definently 2 schools of thought.
